Looking for a thin wrench

You can't really tell in this photo but the bottom Pittsburgh wrench is very thin.

I don't have the exact specs but the nut is maybe only 1/2 the width of a typical combo wrench. Because there is another nut right on top of the bottom one, extremely thin wrenches work more efficiently, as they don't get in each other's way.

I don't know that I've seen any wrenches advertised as thinner than others. (Maybe they are called something else?) Can someone tell me where to get one like this but from a company more like Snap-on, Matco, etc? I've checked the websites but couldn't find what I am looking for, or at least didn't recognize what I was looking for.

I would need 2 of them. They are 10mm. I don't care what the other end of the wrench is, box or open ended. Length doesn't really matter either.

Thanks.

look for tappet wrenches. Snap on, Mac and others make them. I don't think Craftsman has them in metric though.

here's the link to snappy page:

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/tools.asp?tool=all&Group_ID=561&store=snapon-store

Snap on calls them low torque slimline wrenches, but everyone else calls them tappet wrenches.

I know Mac makes them but I hate their website so you're on your own there! LOL!

Maybe proto or wright? Cornwell?

These are the same wrenches shown in the picture above. Its says Facom Tappet wrenches right in the Proto catalog.

Stanley owns Facom and the 31 series is one of the few lines they are bringing into the US (approx 600 Facom part numbers out of 28,000 are being stocked in Concord NC). As such, the price and availability are decent compared to items that have to be purchased in Euros or Pounds and imported to the US privately. SD

MAC's got the thinnest i've seen. I bought a Proto tappet and it wasn't even close to as thin as I needed. Snap On's is very thin, but not as thin as the MAC.

There's actually a warning stamped on the side that says "Low Torques Only"

buy some bicycle "cone" wrenches, they are very thin. you can get name brand like Park or Pedros, or you can get a whole thin wrench set from MIT or GRIP I forget which. they are basically the same as the cone wrenches but double ended and a lot less expensive.

I don't know of any cone wrenches that come in 10 mm. They're usually 13 mm and up. However, Park Tool does make some 10 mm wrenches for working on thin brake nuts:

Not a bad idea. I'm in Indiana but thanks for the offer. Used to live in West Chester (outside Phila)
