I am doing some "consulting" and training with the company I was with for a bit over 10 years. I am in charge of tire, alignment, brakes, fluid maintenance, inspection and lift safety training. I am traveling to 4 different stores and about to expand to another owners stores and I can see this kind of moving towards a full time gig. What I am looking for are some ideas on some tool boxes that I can be searching for that I can turn into a mobile training box. I know some of the lista boxes (have a 5 drawer but the mobile base is over $400), proto boxes and of course snap on (own a 76inch epic, not really mobile though) but for this proof of concept I don't want to sink a ton of money into the box. I will already tie up money and time in making the foam and using my own tools. I want to do the foam so I can track everything and not leave behind a 30 dollar screwdriver or wrench at some shop!

Basically what I am asking the tool addicted like me that have been around a while for some model numbers or brands I haven't thought of that I can search out and try and get a good deal on.

I am willing to spend about 300 bucks and before it comes up yes I thought about the 26inch HF box and then just sell the top but I would like a little different drawer layout. Maybe something more like this
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002C7YWKS/?tag=atomicindus08-20

with the small drawers at the top. I like that and I think it would work well for me. I have seen some older craftsman

I will say that if this idea works I would like to be able to spec out my tool list and a box and make it available to new hires and guys just getting started in the industry as a starter kit. At my work we have done tools as a sign on bonus that is the techs to keep after a year or 6 months.

I have a buddy that worked out of a KRA63 and that got me thinking about a top box that I could even make my own stand or roll cart for. Its not super high on my list but its in the back of my mind.

My suggestion would be starting with a HF cart, red or black.

A cart seems to be the most popular starting point nowadays. We've been abusing the 4 drawer carts in a const eq shop for 3 or 4 years. And they are holding up fine

Thought about it but it's wasted space underneath I would rather have drawers all the way. but I do agree I bought one of those years ago then gave it to an apprentice and it has been passed around a lot and still going strong.

Is this something you'll need to unload and load into a car or truck daily?

The company I work for builds kit carts for aerospace to prevent FOD

We build the racks and cut the foam.

Let me know if I can help. We can certainly do production work.

Not every day but yeah it will need to roll up into my eurovan. Figure some ramps or just loading it on and off the alignment rack like we sometimes to with heavy stuff.

Guys thank you all for the suggestions
