Hello all.

First time posting on this forum and it looks a good place to be.

Bit of info on me. Two weeks ago I moved into my first house and it has a single garage. Great blank canvas for me to start with. It's going to house my motorbike and hopefully a second bike when I get the funds.

I'm currently looking for a tool chest. I would absolutely love a snap-on tool chest but being as they are stupidly expensive I was wondering if anyone else had any cheaper alternatives to suggest? I also looked at the ones from Halfords but they seem quite cheaply built.

Me personally? Used Sears Craftsman from the 60's through the 80's. Can't beat them for the price and they do the job well. I like the older ones, but that's me.

I'd rather spend the money on what's IN the box first. Also, talk to your tool truck guys that come around to the shops across the pond there (or "garages" as the British call them :) ). Often, they will have trade ins at a good price and you can get a good buy that way.

Well, someone has to do it---:lol_hitti

(I have a rather large family in the U.K., and I wind them up, on a regular basis, with the prices here---My "English Rose" wife tells me, all the time, that "Americans don't realize how well off we are...")

Reading Left to Right---

1.) Harbor Freight 44" Roller Cabinet------about 230 Quid
2.) Harbor Freight 5 Drawer Tool Cart------less than 100 Quid
3.) Harbor Freight 56" Roller Cabinet------less than 450 Quid (I have one!!!)
4.) Harbor Freight Top Box for the 56" Roller------about 230 Quid

Please note that these prices do not include VAT(20% Very Awful Tax)!!!

Seriously, good luck on your search...

When buying a tool chest it is important to consider if it will be moving or stationary. The quality of the wheels can vary alot. Other than that is the size of the drawers, quality of drawer slides and thickness of the metal it is made of.

Keep an eye out on Ebay and Gumtree etc I got an old Taskmaster Roll Cab for £60,not a top make granted but for that money it'll do me.I'm up in the North East and just missed a large Britool top box that made £70 cos he wanted cash on collection only and nobody wants to travel all the way up here to pick them up.
