Looking for a tool that adjusts the oil burner electrodes.... I have been using a caliper or a 6" metal scale to do this and it's a painful process every time.... well I do it once a year for past 12 years... anyone have a recommended tool to do this better.... I saw some gauges for Beckett burners, but I have a Carlin EZ1.
A good video of how to use these would be nice.

caliper is more difficult... I know few tools exist, just wasn't sure how they worked... Well, I ordered one, will report back... earliest is Feb 2x when I had to go back to my parent's place for A&E fixes on the water heater again.

I used calipers and steel scales. it's 3D adjustment little more squinting the eyes.... and it's PITA sometimes.... dependents. Hope this makes it better.

I have that Beckett T501 look alike gauge somewhere... never figured out how to use it properly when I had oil for heating.

Hmmmmmm,..... I've been settin' 'em by eye since 1973, 'n haven't had any problem, what so ever,...

my eyes are getting wonky.... and besides, if anything is not set 100% I end up traveling 400-ish mile in the weekend.

Hopefully it will work for you. If not it may give you an idea how to make one for the burner you have. 400 miles in the winter is not fun.

Actually carlin offers a ez1 gage. It's yellow p#82628

Ok thx, just bought that one too now... I saw it on Amazon when I was searching, I think it was discontinued (maybe it was a different gauge I was looking at) but just found one from ebay...

And old tech taught me to use a nickel for spacing. It's been a while, but I believe it was the thickness away from the nozzle, and the diameter from each other.

RIP Loren!

Ok, Both arrived.... both shipped very fast. one took a joy ride with the USPS monkey around town twice (since Tuesday) before finally decided to be delivered today.

The blue one seems to be made of some different plastic. it had some rough plastics around the edges that have been clean off by a razor blade... cosmetic no hindering in function... It does offer support for more nozzle size... looks more easier to use than the Yellow, as in it fits / slips into the nozzle and sits tight while you tighten the electrode....

the Yellow one is smoother more quality feel but looks and feel britle also... ... probably easier to use for the carline electrodes. Seems with that shallow tip, I don't have to remove the fan (that thing in front of the nozzle) to adjust the electrodes....

Both looks ingenues devices... definitely better than me using a metal scale or digital caliper.

Well will report back when I used it next time.

Thanks folks for recommending them.

When I buy specialty tools it is insurance that I will never need them.
Good luck, hopefully you won't need to make the trip again any time soon.

I use the yellow one every day it works great. Leave the retention head on insert the gage till it bottoms out on the nozzle set the electrodes into the notch and set the gap it also sets the distance the nozzle is from the head. Fool proof
