Looking for a very small 12 V lamp.

I am the happy user of a Philips PM 3055 scope.
Was a quality product in the 80´s. I think it is a Tektronix clone.
Fairly advanced for the time.
I got it free of charge from a shop that revamped with all digital instruments.
It is a hybrid analog/digital design.
The scope has a LCD display with all settings and selections.
Black alfanumerical text. Backlit by a small lamp thru a fancy plexi/metal reflector contraption.
The lamp is 12 V 0,7 or 1 Watt.
It is a glass cylinder 2 mm dia and 10 mm length with axial leads.
The lamp is open circuit, need a new one.
It is NOT possible to rework the plexi contraption, a bigger lamp is not possible.
Any lamp gurus out there that can help me out?
Have vacuumed Europe, nothing. And Philips has palmed off their high tech stuff and now sell toothbrushes and razors made in ( guess).

Wow, I can't imagine a glass bulb 2mm in diameter. Could you substitute a small white LED?

Ok, I just found bulbs listed as 1.7mm and 2.4mm from a site called Miniatronics. They are sold for hobby (toy) trains. Maybe you could find a place that sells mini train supplies? There must be mini train hobbyists near you?

As above, we used to fool around with "grain of wheat" bulbs on our model trains in the fifties. Maybe there is something there that would work.

Can you run a strand of fiber optic into it and use an alternate light source?

The Grain of White ( railroad hobby) lamps are dia 3 mm, which unfortunately does not fit. Have tried and do not dare to enlarge the slot in the plexi. Surfaces are polished and the plexi is attached to the LCD black and white display. Scared to damage the LCD, the scope will be virtually useless without it.

Another option is very small hi intensity leds with built in reflector.

No, they come in many different sizes.

I have always used JKL lamps thru my local digi-key
There is a T ¾ size on the attached that might work size wise but
Its only 5 volts

If you have access to the LCD replacement panel for a Philips PM 3055 oscilloscope, please let me know. I think it started life as a part in a similar Tektronix scope from 1981. Thanks a lot.

The problem is solved now, using 8 off very small bright white 3 V SMD LEDs. 4 each in series, two // rows fit in the slit in the plexi light guide.
Took some miniature hand soldering, but anybody can do that, just takes patience.
Very good readability.

Have you seen the LEDs made to replace the cold cathode lamps in LCD displays?

I have done 2 for 19 inch monitors when a machine is built around the failed display.

My app is VERY limited spacewise, but 2*4 micro SMD LED bright white and finnicky soldering solved my prob.
