Do you have room for a 6 inch? That would give you more capacity. These are tiny.

You might also check Ebay. A couple months ago, I bought some new old stock USA-made Williams adjustables for dirt cheap.

FYI the Channellocks are relabeled Iregas. Great wrenches. I like my plier wrenches too but they don't replace an adjustable.

The Kleins are also relabeled Irega Spain.

The Bahco are also made in Spain but not by Irega. The photo is out of date. They are no longer made in Sweden.

Between the 4 Irega and 1 Bahco, you'll probably get the best value on the Irega from Channellock.

Shorten a 6" and clean up the cut. Wider opening than a 4" and stronger. The tool police won't fine you for tool abuse.

I had the 4" crescent with the red handle, opened up to 9/16" which was invaluable to me. Any of the ones you listed will work fine.

I have the Klein 8" extra wide but my only 4" wrench is Williams. I do have the Knipex Cobra and took a photo of a Williams 4" and 6" next to it for scale. I paid $12 total shipped for the pair of 4" and 6" Williams wrenches. I never use the 4".

The quality of the Irega wrenches is good. If you bought new, the 4" Channellock should be a good purchase.

One thing about all the new wrenches is that they don't round the edges. It's almost a square edge (arrow in photo). On vintage wrenches the edges were completely round.

A lot of vintage 4" wrenches never got used because of their small size and they are more common to find in good condition. I haven't looked recently but it's probably worth a look at Ebay.

I've got a half-dozen 4" adjustable wrenches, Craftsman, Channelock, Diamond, and Crescent- all old stock, good quality. And a Tekton, tossed in the back of a drawer somewhere.

Thinking what would be more useful in the space add those or adjustable and say mini vice grips

A Vise-grip is also handy.

FYI, there are Proto USA and Craftsman USA wrenches that have the jaws of a 6" wrench on a 4" handle. I think they were both made by Western Forge. Might be another option. I don't have one but I pulled a photo of the Proto J704S from the internet. It's available in black or chrome. I've seen the Craftsman at my local Ace hardware.

I used to carry an old USA made snap on smooth jaw 4" adjustable with my 5" pair of Knipex cobras. Loved that setup...

Then I read about how awesome the 5" Knipex pliers wrench was on the interwebz......

I haven't touched an adjustable wrench under 8" since getting the pliers wrench. Its literally a crescent wrench, a ratcheting crescent wrench, super leverage force munipulators, and 100% badass wrapped up into a 5" pair of pliers...

Of you choices, I would take the bahco ergo grip 4" over any you have listed. It is the same as the current production snap on abeit the flank drive plus teeth on the snap ons. They are now made in spain, instead of sweden, and I feel like the quality has gone downhill since they were made in sweden. Other than the knipex pliers wrench, the bahco would be my choice from your list. I can't stress how awesome those knipex are...

SK makes 4" adjustable wrench. It may be made by Western Forge. HJE carries it.

I have played around with the knipex Pliers Wrench and super high quality and useful

Since this project is my mini set up
I am trying to control what space is to be used up with the most mix of tools

I have cobras in 5” and they are amazing

Question now is do I go with

-mini vise grips
-5” knipex plier wrench
-adjustable 4” wrench
I won’t have space for all 3 above and my cobras

I found those big headed 4” wrenches to be a pain due to the extra thickness of the jaws. I have 6 or 8 true 4””, and they come out before the hybrid, mostly due to working in confined spaces.

I have a 4" crescent brand adjustable wrench that was like 5 bucks from TSC... Never used it. But I did find that as soon as I got my little 5" pliers wrench I have been using them a ton.

I have both the Craftsman and Klein, I find the Craftsman opens wider but do to the head design is to big to carry in my pocket. I carry the Klein every day for years.

Thin jaw adjustables are crazy useful. I made my own with a cheap Chinese adjustable I had lying around and a flap wheel, and it's extraordinary how much I've used it.

I suppose I should buy a nice one sometime... I didn't even know there was a Channellock/Irega available. That's going on my shopping list.

curious if the outcome of the contests are goin to be posted..

haha thinking

I am going to go with the channel lock since they can be found new and very good reviews

I want to go knipex 5" plier wrench but I don't see the point for space they will take since I already have cobras. so instead of having 2 similar pliers i thought better to mix it up with channel lock versions and my cobras

question now is do i go slim version of the channel locks or the regular head?

Since it's in like an emergency kit you probably don't need to worry as much about the decreased durability etc of narrower jaws. To make it more likely that when you really need it you can fit it on the fastener, I would go with the narrow jaws. Just my $0.02. I guess the flip side of that is you really don't want it to break when you really need it...

That’s true it’s not like the tools are used to do daily plumbing work etc

The price is about the same for standard vs slim

here is great picture of the both versions

I could never get on with less than a 6" wide jaw. The 4" are cute but I ran into the opening often being too narrow to justify carrying it.

The 6" Wilde is what I carry around. US made and they're only 20ish dollars as of the time of writing. OP said their carrying case is max 5.5 inches but he has cobra pliers in there and I thought those were 6 inches?

Also added mini ruler
