Really in need of an axially tightening hose clamp.
Please see US patent number US2641038A to understand what I’m talking about.
Did no one actually make this into a real thing?

What do you need it for? If I'm being honest looking into that I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at, but it looks similar to a pex hose clamp. See pic

Very possible. Lots of things are patented that never get beyond the prototype stage. The clamp referenced is a solution for a very specific problem. Not knowing what you are trying to do, I'm not sure if a spring hose clamp would work, but it is an alternative you could consider.

A lot of factory automobile hose clamps are spring clips or bands and the plier handles can be parallel to the hose while opening and closing the clamp so that would make it axial in my book.

Thanks for all the replies! It is needed for tightening a cooling line going to the pump on a jet ski. The pressure from the water is huge and we need to make sure the clamp is tightened correctly and doesn’t fail. The space is very limited, that’s why we need the screwdriver to be parallel to the hose while opening and closing.
Sorry if something was misunderstood, English isn’t my first language.

What did the manufacturer use originally to fasten the hose in question? Is it possible that someone replaced it before with the incorrect clamp?

I use stainless T clamps on my car for things like rad and coolant hoses, as well as to mechanically hold the overflow cannister to the chassis. Strongest and best designed clamps for most applications I have run into.

For your jet ski hose scenario, does the receiving tube have a smooth tube or some sort of flange on it? That is the usual scenario on simple fluid transfer systems not using JIC or -AN fittings or O ringed/threaded connections.

You can see some of the applications in the attached pics. In some cases, we have a bung TIG welded onto alum parts, such as the water pump outlet or radiator inlet outlets and then can go to -AN fittings like on the fuel system, oil cooling setup etc visible in some of the engine pics.

Hope this helps.

On the railroad we have a wide clamp that we use on air hoses if they happen to spring a leak. Might work on water... not sure what it would be called though...

Thanks for all the help. We will go with AN fittings, which is a lot of extra work but at least will make the future access to the pump a lot easier and is also reliable. Thanks again for all the ideas, seems like the exact clamp that I was looking for is indeed patented but never made it to production.

They normally use regular hose clamps, but since we are working on a completely aftermarket racing equipment, there basically is no such thing as “manufacturer.” That particular hull and pump combo has never been used together, therefore it is completely up to us to figure it out. OEM products have much more space available around that area, that’s why using a regular hose clamp isn’t a problem for factory products.
