Looking for an overhead grid projector

I'm looking for some sort of projector or laser to put a grid on a board. I've found an overhead artist projector but might need something bigger. Some of my projects are over 3 feet long.

Here's my issue... I make little signs (sometimes larger) with letter I cut out on a scroll saw. Each letter gets glued down individually. I'm getting older and my eyesight isn't what it used to be and invariably I get a letter or two that is off a little. I figured if I could get something to project a grid pattern onto the project it would help me lay the letters out square.

Any ideas other than the artist projector I mentioned?

I actually found a device designed for ghost hunting that may work. Its only $70.

I thought there might be something available in construction like a laser level that might have a grid option. Oh well...

I had something like this when I was a kid which definitely makes it an old tool now. It should be fine for projecting a grid on the wall or mounted overhead to project onto your work top. Just put graph paper down for it to project.

Garage sale slide projector? You'd just have to sort out your grid sizes.

You could even project the shape of the cutouts each time to get the spacing done perfect with no measurements!

Getting the grid onto a slide Would need to be pretty tiny to start. Good call.

Look for a used video projector with HDMI or VGA input, use with your computer to project images/grids or whatever you want..
