Currently using Sylvania Coolwhite F96T12 60W bulbs.

Are there better (brighter) bulbs available?

The sylvania's came from Lowes; would an electrical distributor have bulbs available that others don't with more light?
thanks

Yes there are higher wattage replacement tubes, up to 215 watts available here;
http://www.bulbs.com/Fluorescent_Bulbs/results.aspx?Ntk=all&Ntt=t-12%3Bt12&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&cm_mmc=google-_-light%20bulbs-_-fluorescent%20bulbs-_-fluorescent%20t12&AffID=6

I use to run 75 and 95 w tubes until about 1998 when I added some more 8' fixtures and the ballasts were rated for two 60w tubes in them. I think I may have a few higher wattage lites still but for the most part they have been replaced with 60 w tubes over time as they are the only tubes I have purchased in a number of years. The last 3 or 4 cases of lamps came from Sam's Club - GE's @ about 3.70 per.

If you intend to use a higher wattage perhaps a different balast will be required - I don't know.

Make sure to buy the highest CRI (Color Rendering Index) bulbs. The difference between High CRI and regular bulbs can be amazing.
