Hoping someone out there in interweb land that knows what Buffalo drill presses were cast out of. White iron or gray?

If you mean the ones built in the US, it would be grey cast iron. Probably C30.
If anybody had any tips to welding whatver its made out of that'd be great. I busted the table on mine where it mounts to the round pipe. Preheated, welded with a rod that's meant for cast and covered with a welding blanket and let it cool slowly. Still cracked.

Check out this flame spray method, this is the best cast welding repair I've ever seen.

Pretty sure you can go find a better video on this subject. but that is what they taught in school back in the days, not sure if that is still the case.

I was looking for something to repair a heavy motor I got and it was damaged by well UPS.
These are the two common tig / stick rods NI55 and NI99 and ERCUSI-A.
