Looking for decent tool chest

I found this website and thread while searching for info on this toolbox.

I have a Craftsman BB 11 drawer unit, tall and narrow. I've outgrown it and have seriously been looking at the HB box.

Before it would have been more of a want but now that I've added a hoist, and a German car and all its great one of a kind tools the new bigger box is now a need.

These go on sale often, right? I'm in a pinch becausse I have someone ready to come pick up my Craftsman box but I need a replacement ASAP.

This is a no dollar upgrade, I'm selling my Craftsman box for more than what I'm paying for the HB box so I'm not interested in looking at other lines unless the price was similar.

I've looked at the Husky boxes and was not impressed...the Kobalt boxes looked super cheap to me.

I've checked out the HB box time and again and seems impressive for the money.

Has anyone seen the Yellow or Black in person? Is it the same finish?

Personally I liked the finish on the box too.

Just have to find it on sale soon.

I've only seen it in red in the store and that's what color I own also. I just picked up the top chest last week with a 15% off coupon that was going around. I still think they are a great value for the money and a pretty robust.

I wish they had a non textured finish. But it's not that big of a deal to me. They still clean off just fine with a rag and some diluted simple green.

WSMC633 I salute you sir, the whole I don't see the point of debt and bought everything with cash mentality is sadly lacking in this day and age of easy credit and loans. Well done sir may your business prosper.

Refreshing to see someone thats wiling to work hard and achieve.

I have to say if you can upgrade to a snap on box the quality is excellent and they can take the weight, so can the Beta boxes but you don't get them in the US easily.

I've always taken the view that if I can't afford it then I can't afford it with a loan or credit either. So I save up until I can.
But last year my accountant told me to get a credit card and use it so I have a "credit history". I still haven't worked out why I need this credit history but I got a card and use it about once a month - say for fuel.
Then I pay it off before the bill comes.
I'll be seeing my accountant soon., Hope I've done it right.

Elroy understands that "katit" has already purchased his box. He trusts that you're happy with your selection. This post is only intended to offer others additional choices. We purchased six of these boxes at work. Sure they're import but this box is really nice.

I now this thread is dated but I wanted to second the opinion on these boxes from Greg Smith. I live near the Norcross, Georgia show room and went and looked at them in person. I thought the were made pretty well and looked good in person. They have a bunch of their stuff on display. Nice place...

This is an old thread and I'm not a big poster on this site, but my experience with Greg Smith personally when I had a problem with something I bought from him forces me to post.

Greg Smith told me his policy was that the customer is not always right. This was in response to my complaint that my right out of the crate transmission jack didn't work.

His promise to replace it if it was returned turned out to be a lie, I was given a baggie of O-rings.

Sadly, the replacement transmission jack I bought from Harbor Freight has been a workhorse.

Avoid Greg Smith at all costs, unless you want equipment that might not work right out of the box and poor customer cervice from the man who owns the company.

Check out this combo...

I have the bottom box to it and I am really happy, you can pick the bottom up for 329, (reg 490) and the top for cheap as well, or get a deal on the combo. Definitely adequate for what you will use it for. The bottom drawer of mine has 2 full SK impact socket sets (the deep and shallow combo's in the green cases), 2 1/2 impacts, 1 3/8 impact, 1 3/8 air ratchet 1 1/4 air ratchet and 1 cut off tool and it rolls effortlessly. Definitely will handle home use just fine.

I understand your beef...but I think you'd be better off starting a new thread about this. The point you're making just gets lost in this ancient thread. :shocking:
