Looking for garage stairs ideas

Hello guys,

New home finally purchased

The garage has a 2 foot step down from the main floor of the house. Currently there's a basic wooden stair setup; 3 steps, basic cut stringers, etc

I'm looking for something better for my garage. Any ideas out there?

As was said, you can pour concrete steps, or build some steel steps, or make a long ramp for wheelchair accessibility.

If you want nicer stairs contact any commercial stair manufacturer, they can make them as fancy as you want to spend. On my garage I boxed the stairs to the attic in but that was to keep heat from rising into the attic.

This is what I will soon be doing. Out with the squeaky wood step and replace with broom finished concrete.

Are these steps just as wide as the door frame? If they are, like mine, (about 4 steps up), extend them out about 2 ft on the side of the latch. That way, you're not standing on the step, and having to step down/back to open the storm door (assuming it opens out). Made a world of difference in my garage for bringing in groceries, etc.

I built a 4' x 4' platform about 6" below the door threshold, and then built stairs coming off of that running parallel to the wall. Put a handrail on the open side, and stair treads were made of 2" x 10" lumber. Has lasted for the last 30 years, and it doesn't squeak. It also provides a place to put stuff under the stairs for long term storage, such as spare roofing shingles, for the day that you need a couple in a hurry.
