Looking for hardware for a project

This is for a thing for my kid, so cheap and replacable, not high end or custom machining...

Looking for something like a clevis hardware, but with a threaded rod at the bottom of the U shape.

Essentially looking to make some train signals with flag/semaphores up top and handles down low in a cantilever with threaded rods, but not sure how to make it work and be kid proof(ish)

If you type clevis fitting into Google, then hit the "shopping" option, you'll find that Home Depot sells these three for $18.
