Looking for High Quality Wire Scratch Brushes

I went to an industrial store today looking at the above brush - which is a Weiler Model #44806. Although it looks good in the picture, I can tell by feel that the bristles would bend real easy. The word "CHINA" was stamped on the brush.

I used to buy high quality wire brushes at a gun store under the brand name Kleen Bore, but the Kleen Bore brand has since been bought out by some other corporation. The Kleen Bore brush I used to buy was the Model #UT-222 and it was made in the USA. The company that owns Kleen Bore now are having their brushes made in Taiwan and the quality has suffered substantially. None of the big box stores have good brushes and neither do the auto parts stores. I'm open for suggestions. Thanks fellas.

I use the above Weiler Model #44806 brush allot. I also use their brass bristle brush. I like the brush for what I do but it sounds like you need a stiffer bristle. You may look to see if the Weiler is offered in a larger diameter wire bristle.

Magnolia Brush is another one. I'm not sure where the scratch brushes are hidden on their website, but I picked up several with brass, nylon and stainless steel bristles (one pair each) from HJE awhile back. I can only attest to the quality of the nylon brushes; one of them has been the workhorse for parts cleaning on an engine build. It looks like the backup won't need to come out of the drawer.

I've found the SS Weiler 44075 last a LOT longer than the cheapos, cost about $3 each and are still made in USA.


For Nylon brushes, I get the Otis blue nylon gun cleaning brushes. 10 pack on Amazon makes them about $1.25 each. These are also head and shoulders above the cheapos.

Now where do you find ones that can be mounted in a air tool? I bought some from HF and they throw wire like a pissed off Porcupine.

What a great description! Brother I know EXACTLY what you're saying. I've pluck more bits of wire out of my hide than I care to count. Some of the Dremel brushes are the same way.
