Looking for house inspector in MA before I purchase

I am looking for a house inspector in the southeast portion of Middlesex County, Massachusetts before I purchase. I am looking for somebody who is EXTREMELY detailed during the inspection and in the report. Fussy, nit-picky, and meticulous are all good traits.

Also, looking for somebody who is able to see or sense the paranormal.

You might want to also look for someone that knows WTF they're doing when they do that detailed inspection and report. I've seen a bunch of inspection reports, including on the last house that I sold, that were very nicely done, and also just flat wrong and missed some serious items. Most tend to over horrify the most basic and visible problems while missing the most important ones.

You need to get Mike Holmes to come down from Canada. Any home inspector I have EVER had has been a POS and told me nothing but very obvious things I could have easily seen myself. On the other hand, they are the same ones that have been giving reports to the people buying my houses too, so I guess the street goes both ways.

Surprised your realtor (assuming you have one as buyer rep) was unable to provide you with some referrals. I own a mortgage company in the area and have access to many contacts if needed. I will be living there. I want to know of all the problems that can and will arise in the future. Like when somebody takes their car to a mechanic. They want to know if it needs brakes soon, not when it's too late.

Just a thought. Contact a few banks and see who they recommend? I didn't think you could get a home loan these days without having the house inspected.

I've had good luck with Angie's list...also the Better Business Bureau.

Interview a few, ask for references and examples of their completed reports.

It won't be easy to do your due diligence...but nothing worthwhile ever is.

Funny someone mention Holmes. He's got a scam going where he gets inspectors to kick back some green to him.
If you want a good inspection, be willing to pay. Are you willing to spend a grand or more? And since you don't own it, they will have to guess. need owners permission to damage.
