Looking for ideas and pics

Good morning,

First time poster, long time lurker here.

My wife and I built our house and moved in late 2018. It sits on 1 acre. Last summer we put a pool in the back yard.

I am now looking for ideas on shop/garage that has a small bathroom. Just a little corner bathroom for folks to use while swimming so they dont have to go through the house wet.

I am somewhat restricted on size of shop because of the build lines.

I am looking for ideas on anything in the 18-24 ft range in width. I would also love to have a small overhang/lean-to on one side that faces the pool. There is a small putting green in between.

I will try and post up some pictures in the next few days of the available space.

It would also help to see what style your house is. My brother had a pool building on the other side of his pool, and it matched the color and style of the main house. His was used as a small guest house, with a bathroom and sleeper sofa. His also had a lanai (roof overhang/porch) so you could sit in the shade by the pool.

That is sort of what I am thinking. Maybe not a sleeper sofa or anything. I am thinking just a small bathroom in one corner, lean-to over hang to sit by the pool, but mainly used for lawn equipment and tools inside.

pistol58, you don't list your location, but if you were close to PA, I'd suggest contacting Stoltzfus Structures. They pre-build amazing pool houses and I'd think adding a small bathroom is doable. (If "doable" is a word)

They built my garage and shed...well pleased.

Here are a few photos of my backyard. With the build line coming into play, my rough calculations are 16-20 ft wide. That is without a lean-to that we really want to sit under by the putting green.

I am just concerned the 18ft range will get tight quick. All I am storing is tools, zero turn mower and maybe a golf cart (that may be able to stay in the garage)

Do you have septic or city/town sewers ? Is there building codes that need to be followed ? Will it be inspected ?
For the bathroom, I knew a guy that put in just a holding tank and no septic field. Has it pumped out when needed

Outside of city but it will still need to be tied into the septic.

Sounds pretty straight forward. Depending on the size of the overhang it could be part of the truss structure to save time framing that detail on site. Although you may still want to have some posts at the edge. Did that for the house for a porch overhang that is 5 feet in some places and 9 feet in others. Architect said hold downs were important for wind uplift so put in anchor bolts and threaded rod up through round hollow posts.

Small bath shouldn't be an issue. I think the minimum size for house code most places for a half bath is 5 x 5 but that is pretty tight. Might be issues with the size of your septic system especially if you go for a full bath. AHJ here initially told me I might need to put in a larger tank but ended up approving a half bath in the garage.

Maybe I missed it but where are you thinking of locating the building? On the side between the pool and pond or toward the neighbors house/yard? Where are your septic sprinklers drain field located and does that add to the space restriction?
Depending on layout would relocating the putting green help giving the space you need?
