I'm helping a friend sell some of his late father's vast Snap-on tool collection. (Not here, see my classified ad)

I'm posting here to see if anyone has info, model numbers, catalog scans, age info or value of one of the Snap-on boxes he has. It is two pieces, has 20 drawers total and is in absolutely mint condition but I've never seen one like it and I'm having a hard time helping him value it.

Thanks in advance! 6b85c7cecd42b81d590330dd37d58e4b.jpg

If I wanted to sell something like that I'd start with a $1K bid on Ebay, even thought I'd prefer not to sell on the site, it should get plenty of traffic.

To add to Eric's comments this is a rare sighting and nothing this clean has ever shown up. Ramblur's restored example was incredibly done but nothing beats original.

It is a very cool combination, especially in such great condition. In the second link I posted above, a board member bought a toolbox from Crane Cams that was from that series.

Very nice looking combos, shouldn't have any problems selling. X2 on ebay and watch the bidding war.

You could always list it with an outrageous reserve just in case.

That’s a very cool box! I am not a fan of the wood grain effect but the rest of the box is very nice. My guess just from the style was 60s, and thank you Stuart for posting the catalog pic.

That is a beautiful piece of garage furniture.

This is what I was thinking, a box inside a garage office used for something other than hand tools.

Honestly, it looks like something you would have seen in Mr Brady's architecture office.

The most surprising thing about the box is how much storage it actually provides. 20 drawers and a flip up top compartment combine to offer a ton of tool storage.

Here are a few drawer pics. Every drawer has a red felt drawer liner. I'm not sure if that's original to the box or added by my friends dad.08390e35bfc189bee8a48bc9900bf797.jpg46bd282d7965bd48719a18ec24a66993.jpg086be8adde88a0100d1047b01191c2ce.jpg
I'm quite sure it's not nearly as rare but he also has this Snap-on top box in amazing mint condition as well.49045dcfe2cd9c476474e3bdf48234f8.jpg

So I would contend it is tied for the cleanest that we've seen recently.

There was a full one on eBay in late 2018 with contents for $2500. I thought about it for a day too long, and it was gone.

Somebody with a lot of money, that has spent tons of it to create a pristine retro garage - NEEDS that box...

I think youd be crazy to list that on a single ebay listing and chance the right person not finding it with an “auction”.

If i were selling that - and wasnt in a rush to do so - I’d list that on ebay with a buy it now price well above my expectations on what somebody on GJ would pay for it. I mean a CRAZY price - with a note to send offers. I think a video on YouTube would be a good idea also.

Its not even that its just old. Its that is so unique and a very desirable retro look at that, in PRISTINE shape. People pay thousands for beat up old signs.. you probably just need to find the right audience. A REAL collector, not some guy that just thinks its cool. The ******* wheels look new..

I think youd be crazy to not think a guy with something like this, would lose sleep over not buying that. “All original, UNRESTORED”

Would it be crazy to suggest trying to send an email to one of the writers or editors of a magazine that specializes in old classic cars or garages?

Somebody spent their life, making sure nothing happened to that box for like 50 years.. it shouldn’t wind up as a quick sale on craigslist to someone else that WONT do that.

Beautiful box, beautiful time capsule. The red liner looks amazing. Wish I lived closer. Post a link if you list tools and box on eBay. Someone needs that box to compete a retro 60’s garage.

So the one I was looking at, complete, pristine, etc. sold on eBay with a Buy it Now of $2500. I said I spent a day thinking about it, it was more of I went to bed at midnight thinking if it is still there in the morning, and I woke up at 6AM and it was sold and I was full of fomo.

In my defense, I didn't need it and had just spun up another business and couldn't justify it as I already have a full Snap On kit a few times over. Still regret not buying It though...
