I recently picked a "The Ridge Tool Co Elyria Ohio 43 CP (N)" vise. The "N" is not cast on but, rather stamped in. It weighs around 70 pounds? Is this the same as a Ridgid? If so, why is it marked Ridge? Were these types of vises only manufactured at a certain point? Does anyone know when this vise might have been made?

Thank you,
Bob Barker

The Ridge Tool Company, maker of Ridgid brand tools, is based in Elyria, Ohio. The company opened in the 1920s and the manufacturing plant was first located in North Ridgeville, Ohio.

There is a monster Vise thread that will probably get more eyes than this one, unless you change the title to include Vise and Ridge Tool.

Yes seriously, this thread title is horrible. You need to specify “Looking for info on Ridge Tool Co Vise”. Your title could be looking for info on lugnuts, soldering irons, or who knows what. Not being nasty but “Help us help you”.

EDIT: @RTM this was intended for the OP, sorry.

Yes, same company, just an older name. I have a 1928/1929 pipe wrench with similar markings.

Post in thread 'Vintage RIDGID Pipe Wrenches' https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-ridgid-pipe-wrenches.267730/post-9649439

Like others have said, a more descriptive title would really help you out. You could also try posting in the vice thread or the vintage tools forum if you don't get answers here.
