I would like to ask for good ideas on storing jackstands. I have several pairs of different sizes and they are occupying a lot of floor space. Id like to find good ways of storing them with the least amount of occupying space. TIA

Mine are usually stored under my cars near each corner.

Once I get my mustang back together my next project is a shelving unit for stands.

The bottom shelf will be about 6” off the ground so that my jack will fit under it. It will then have two shelves, lower for my 4 6 Ton stands and upper shelf will fit my 4 3 Ton and 2 2 Ton stands.

Will post pics if I ever get it done

I've seen dedicated wall space and they're hung on a hook- works.

And I've also seen "dolly boxes" were the stands were nested together horizontally in a space to specific dimensions. Basically an open top box on wheels with 2-3 compartments for sets of stands- works better; hides under workbench.

Here is what I did. The back one goes in upside down (box is short enough that it cant fall out) and the fronts go in normally. This keeps the depth down as the jackstands nest.

I set them on the small HF 4 wheel dollies (2 stands per dolly) and roll them in a corner under some shelves. Store two things at once that way.

In my last garage, I used galvanized pipe to make a "U" that was probably 3' long and 6" deep, flanged to the wall. The jackstands perched on top nicely, leaning against the wall. wish I had pics. The current garage is just a dedicated shelf. Don't want to get too crazy because I've got new jackstands on my wishlist.

After I built an addition to my garage, I had a small corner that was perfect for storing them.
Some 1x4 and utility hooks is all it took.

I have thought about securing them with hooks and hoisting them up to the ceiling. Also, have to do something with my under-hoist tripod jack stands as well.

When buying stuff I rarely consider "storage".

I couldn't figure out what that picture was of- I can see the floor, which threw me off! Seriously, that's one clean shop.

I prefer to leave my jackstands where I can trip over them all the time. I will have an enclosed staircase when I finish my shop, and I like the idea of storage under it. I might just make a rolling dolly. In our house, we had a 'dead' corner created by the dishwasher. There's access on the dining room side, though, so I made a rolling bin, which we use for dog food. The front of the bin matches the cabinetry.

Shopnut, I like how you did the jack stands. How did you attach the wood bottoms to the jack stands? thanks Ellis
