Not sure if this post should be somewhere else, if so please move. I have 3 older bar style swivel stools in the garage that I’m looking to replace, They are typical chrome frames with rubber feet and a swivel seat. The frames are rusting and they have no seat backs.

Id like the replacements to be of higher quality, chrome frames, rubber feet, adjustable height seat with a seat back

Who has purchased something in recent years that they really like and where did you get it from?

i had cheap bar stools and mounted some old bar chairs (captain chair) on them so we would have arm and back rests….similar to 4 of these i found at the curb this summer. We could find nothing under $300 each that met our simple criteria of arm and back rest..

Have you looked into office chairs? A back - foot rest - and wheels. Since my work bench is higher than a desk I got a taller chair - often called a 'drafting chair'. Obviously more expensive than a standard stool but well worth it in my opinion.

Our workbench countertops are counter height, so the chairs do need to be counter height, however I do not want something with wheels. I'll look into drafting furniture - not that anyone does actual drafting at a table any longer.

Here is a good picture of the relationship between the countertops and the stools. There are other workbenches, but all are this height. The only difference between what you see in the picture and today, is there are long mats in front of each workbench to make standing long periods easier.

I got Aeron office style chairs for my shop desk -- if you search under "drafting stool" you'll find a lot of choices.

I'd suggest that you look at places that cater to the industrial customers as the above. MSC, granger, and uline are others

I bought 4 used adjustable counter-height office chairs (with backs) off CL for $50 bucks each. Have casters though (which I like). You might check a used office furniture store ( there's some huge ones ) or the usual CL or MPL ads.

Edit: Sorry just noticed you're looking for new.

Vyper! I took a spill on my old backless rolling stool several years ago. I bought this Vyper and couldn’t be more pleased with it. Pricey, but they will last forever.

I already have great roll around "working stools" ( https://www.griotsgarage.com/kings-pneumatic-creeper-ii/)
I'm looking for tall stools to sit at countertop height tables for both working on items and relaxing.

I'm not a fan if the Vyper design because of the metal legs and ring that sticks out around the frame. These can easily damage cars as you are wheeling around.

These stools are now back burner as I am preparing vehicles and trailer for our annual migration south for the winter.
