My XL1200 Trane Heat Pump just about **** the nest this past when the condensor fan motor stopped. I inspected it and the fan would not freely spin.

I removed the small oil plug and added some machine oil and got it to turn freely again and now have HP operating again...

I figure this 17 yo fan motor should be replaced. Priced the motor locally and it was almost $290:willy_nil. It's a two speed condensor motor, unique to Trane.

The motor I need is Trane MOT3407

Any online sources that I can get it cheaper..?

Have you tried Grainger? Their website allows you to list all the specs on the label. We have a Payne unit that had an occasional sticky condenser fan motor. Obvious sign it was time to replace it. Went to Grainger and had them order an exact replacement to be in the next day.

In my case Grainger was the cheapest by roughly $55. Be sure to order a new cap as well roughly $20.
