Getting ready to start a project at home of remodeling the kitchen. We are going to put in a few counter outlets and a few others in the room. Figure 1 for Microwave over the stove, garbage disposal, switch on counter for disposal, light over sink, the The house was built in 1953 and solid construction.

Friend told me about these Flex Drill Bits that you can get from 24"-72" !! I was thinking these would be great for this project, Want to be able to knock out the holes for the Work Boxes, and be able to fish the wire to the new outlet locations. this way there would not be much GUESSING as to where to drill the holes from the crawlspace up in the RIGHT wall cavity between the studs.

See there are a variety of Styles, Auger w/ tip, Serrated, & Combo w/ tip. He said to get the ones with the threaded tip, as these work better and assist in feeding the bit. I like the Combo as they look to provide the best of all worlds. Is there any BRAND that would be best, also consider that the 50+ y/o Lumber in my house is TUFF. I have drilled a few previous holes in studs with a paddle bit, and after 2 holes, it was dull and just smoked !! so resharpen and punch a few more holes.

I see a few manufacturers that make them:
Eagle Tools
Greenlee
Milwaukee
BES Quattro
Klein

Anyone have any experience with any of these ?? figure about a dozen plus holes to drill thru floor & ceiling. Will be using either my 3/8" Heavy Duty Drill or the Big Gun 1/2" right angle drill low RPM !!

The Quattro looks like an aggressive bit I would be tempted to try it out. I think any of them will do a good job.

I have the Greenlee, and it works OK. I will say this is usually the last tool I reach for. I generally find it easier to take a few measurements and drill up from below. If replacing the floor, I just drill an 1/8" hole directly in front of the cavity with the box, then go below and offset accordingly.

Even with the holder, the extended flex bits tend to walk and at best mess up the drywall, and at worst the turn out the wall
