I'm looking for 1/4" pegboard hooks and accessories that can be used with steel pegboard.

I searched around a lot, and all I found were 1/8" hooks and 1/4" hooks with screws meant for hardboard pegboard.

Thanks!

I'm using the same peg board hooks on booth my steel as well as on regular peg board. What issue are you having with the regular hooks on the steel board?

I don't have many peg hooks and the ones I do are on the thin side. Since I have to buy new hooks, I figured I may as well find some good quality ones. Perferably USA made.

What about your local hardware store?

I've heard that it's best to go with the heavy duty/larger pegs and not the 1/8" size (less wobble).

Craftsman has a set of hooks that are coated so they stay in the pegboard.

You can also buy hook locks and/or bushings to hold them in place.

Lastly, I've heard the plastic hooks are sturdy enough and fit tightly into the pegboard.

I tried that but all I found were 1/8" ones. Figured I might have a better chance buying online. Will look around locally again this week.

The Triton are meant for hardboard or plastic only, and the white plastic ones look a little flimsy. Might give them a try.

If you purchase the metal peg board from DiamondLife they have the option to purchase hardboard pegboard to install behind the metal so the hooks and stuff fit right and do not rattle around. I am sure you than could use the Triton stuff with the screw which is real nice. Some stuff hangs from the screw and others can be installed "up side down" so it hangs from the hook.

Stuey,
Why don't you email wallpeg and they will send you a sample hook.
They are not flimsy at all. Several different types available including the JUMBO gusseted hook. The standard ones are exceptionally strong as well.

How many, and what length do you need?
I have some that are retail quality. If it isn't too many I will ship them to you for shipping cost.

Most the ones I have are the short ones, but I do have a few hundred of other lengths.

By retail quality, I mean, used in retail, not sold retail. Edited to add that.
These are about as heavy as you can put in regular pegboard like you buy at Lowe's HD, etc.

The board I plan to use has backers to it already and are 16" x 32" in size. Backing it with hardboard is something I'd rather not have to do.

Gershel Brothers has anything you could want....except screwdriver holders... Don't know about COO, but would you rather buy American or get what you want?

I'll check it out, thanks! Looks pretty affordable for large quantities.

Looking closer at the prices, $10-15 including shipping is hard to pass up.

I might drop them an email to see what they could do for me. I'm not liking their marketing style, though, and how they seem to focus on a comparison between their hooks and metal hooks.

I greatly appreciate the offer, but I prefer to source the hooks from an online retailer. I plan to post a log of the project via ToolGuyd or elsewhere, and will have to be able to include a list of parts and sources.

Right now I'm looking for a general purpose assortment of short and long hooks for use on a pending kitchen-cart pegboard, and a rolling tool cart setup.

I saw a few of the 1/4" heavy duty ones at
Ace Hardware
HD
Lowes
even WalMart

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe the HEAVY WIRE PEG BOARD HOOKS from McMaster Carr are for 1/4" peg board. The catalog page mentions "Hooks fit tightly into 9/32" dia. pegboard holes, securely holding heavier loads." If you look on the previous page (hit the left arrow to get to pate 2994) you will see pegboard which states "pegboards with 9/32" dia. holes are 1/4" thick." They seem to have a decent assortment of all the normal style hooks available. If you have not used McMaster before they are great: no minimum order, super fast and reasonable shipping.

Good Luck

in the last month I've bought a bunch of the HD pegboard hooks from McM; the wire size is .20". I am not sure if you're looking for .25", but I doubt you'll find it because they won't fit due to tolerances; the .20" ones sometimes just barely fit.

0.20" to fit 9/32" diameter holes?

I have yet to check my pegboard to see if they're 0.25" holes or 9/32. Thought they were 0.25.
