Looking for soft jaw pliers

I lack a great quality soft jaw plier.
Specifically this will be for round gun parts.
Diameter will range from 1-3”.
I see crescent makes one as well as knipex and some others I’ve never heard of.
A great gunsmith supply company sells some by Best Way, but I don’t know anything about them.
What do you all recommend?

I love the sprung adjustment button on the Knipex. It locks in, never slips and is so easy to adjust. But I can't speak for the soft jaw version; mine is just the regular one.

+1. These are the only soft pliers I’m aware of for round parts. Replacement jaws are almost as expensive as the pliers though. You can always make your own out of wood or leather or shoe soles, or tire scraps.

Sometimes when none of my soft jaw pliers are suitable for a task, I've temporarily made another pair into soft jaw. Depending on the task, I'll find a scrap piece of rubber or plastic, cut two pieces to fit the jaws, then fix them in place by sliding heat shrink over the whole thing. I only do this when necessary though, because all my heat shrink is adhesive lined and it's a pain to remove and clean up when I'm done. Non adhesive heat shrink should come off real easy

I have a pair from Armstrong which is the same as the Matco. The work great on guns with stuck on parts like shotgun magazine caps. Takes them off easily and does not leave any marks.

Not soft jaws but I've ground down the jaws of HF pliers when i didn't wanna mark up my project. Has worked well.

I did not know soft jaw pliers were an option.

When I have a delicate surface I don't want to mar and nothing else seams to work, l use Channellock (#415) smooth-jawed tongue & groove pliers with electrical tape wrapped around the jaws for added protection (or a folded shop rag). Crude, but works for what I needed in the past.

I used to do that on plated brass hexagonal plumbing parts. But ever since I got a Knipex Pliers Wrench, I’ve used it for this purpose instead. It’s parallel action is fantastic for not marring flat surfaces.

It still isn’t good on round stuff though.
