Hello all, I'm new to the forum, but not the garage. Been wrenching on all sorts of projects all my life. If it has a motor, gas/electric/nitro, etc, I've had fun working on it!
Recently started working on reorganizing my current garage set up as I've acquired more tools and other stuff over the years than I have storage for. To that end I picked up some new 41" sized craftsman tool chests and will repurpose the 26" vintage craftsman boxes I have. However, I have a much larger, all black what I believe is industrial grade Craftsman top box which has 12 drawers, and a lid that closes with a complete metal front that then locks the drawers. Not just the drawers themselves, but the entire box front gets completely sealed off. Looking at the logo I figure its' probably 80's vintage, but I can't for the life of me find ANY info on what model this is, and whether or not it's worth anything. Aside from some vintage vibe, scuffs, scratches etc, it works great, slides appear to have ball bearings (at least the bottom drawers do)
and they all slide really smoothly. It weighs a ton as I needed help just to get it on my workbench when empty. It's 18" deep, and 32" from end to end. Someone has to know more about the history of this box. (tried finding any stampings inside behind the drawers, on the back, in the drawers etc etc. and come up empty. No Label except for a warning label with a letter/number code, and that hasn't borne any info either. Let me know what you think? Should I find a bottom box and keep it? (it's way too big for my smaller workbench and I'm moving what's in this box to the 26" top boxes for the bench and everything else to the new 41 set. Thanks!
