Looking for some metric torque adapters

There is Snap on, that makes them in the good ol' US of A.

Proto has some SAE torque adapters that are made in USA, but not metric for some reason.

Then there is everyone else (MAC, Matco, Cornwell etc.) that are made in Taiwan.

Then there is Sunex, made in Taiwan.

Are the MAC, Cornwell and Matco torque adapters any different than the Sunex torque adapters? They are all made in Taiwan, so are they the same thing just "badged" differently?

So snap on is back ordered.

Sunex is readily available.

Is there anything else out there that I have not mentioned?

German manufacturers maybe? Japanese manufacturers?

I’m coming up a bit short on options here.

That was my impression, so I bought the Sunex. I have a couple of older Snap-Ons as well, and they seem to fit fasteners slightly better, but not better enough to skip the good Sunex value.

Odds are the made in Taiwan version sold by Capri are the same ones sold by MAC & Cornwell perhaps in a different colored case.
Why is it more likely that the capri is what Mac and cornwell are using as opposed to sunex which is also Taiwan?

I purchased a three piece locking universal joint set from Capri and the 3/8 joint in the kit was stamped MAC. Additionally, I feel whoever Capri gets their bit sockets from, again closely resembles the MAC versions. I feel Sunex's quality has dipped a bit in recent months so, I tend to avoid them. However, if you want to grab Sunex, by all means grab Sunex.

Sunex just moved there socket production to china so I personally won’t buy anything from then anymore even if currently made in Taiwan because now I got to wonder will they shift torque adapters to china and now on a warranty you get a Chinese replacement

I didn’t say I want or don’t want anything.

Just wondering what the facts are that lead you to believe capri parts are the same as Mac and cornwell as far as torque adapters.

He literally just said it.

That said, I don't know much about Capri as a company. I have no complaints based on the tools I've owned and used. But I don't know if they actually make anything. Like most other brands, they are probably just rebranding tools. Maybe they have some exclusive contracts, I don't know.

MAC and Cornwell don't make anything. Cornwell I think might still make toolboxes, but that's about it. Everything else is a rebrand far as I know. As for MAC, more or less the same thing. MAC pulls from and rebrands from various brands under the SB&D umbrella. MAC is, after all, an SB&D owned company. It wouldn't surprise me if tools made by one or more of the SB&D companies are also sold under Cornwell and Capri as well. They have the manufacturing infrastructure already in place and already rebrand their own tools.

Reality is it's difficult to really know who truly makes what. But there are so few actual manufacturing facilities these days, especially in the USA. All we can usually do is figure out who owns what company as that is usually a matter of public record.

Cornwell tool boxes are made by Kennedy.

Cornwell makes all of their hardline, legacy products. Wrenches, ratchets, sockets, extensions, punches. They say usa on them and some clearly state on their site, made in USA from 100% USA made 4140 alloy steel. My basic understanding is that they are actually making these particular tools themselves.

Ok, so the theory is that if one product from capri is definitely what Mac is also selling then logically there must be others too, including but not limited to the torque adapters.

I stand corrected. It looks like Cornwell does still make USA tools in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
I also didn't know that Cornwell acquired Kennedy in 2016.

I don't have much experience with Cornwell, they never really came around the shops I worked at.

My assumption would be yes. I doubt Capri is going to SB&D (aka MAC) for a single tool line. But which ones are, or which are not, hell if I know.

I really like Capri honestly. No they don't actually make anything, but the stuff they offer is pretty nice compared to others, their 4 way angle wrenches for example. As far as I can tell, no one else offers them in that price range, having an actual 30/60 split, and having an anti slip feature (a big deal in the rust belt to me). I have a bunch of stuff from them, sockets, wrenches, mini bolt cutters. All of it has treated me well.

Thats kinda the best you can do, but even if 2 companies get the same thing from one supplier, one might have features the other doesn't.

Got any pics of this?
Please see crappy picture below. I was incorrect though, it was the 1/4 locking universal joint, not the 3/8.

It even has a MAC part number M3UL. To be clear, I'm not implying that Capri got this from SBD or MAC. I feel they may share the same supplier possibly these peeps:

I don't think there's a Capri tools factory so, it could be any number of manufacturers.

I picked up a Neiko set of torx bits recently and they are identical to my Capri set except for the logo.
