The tech 2 has a generic obd2 cable with it. You need a candi module to use it with diesels. The mdi is a laptop program with a communication/ pass thru box. It's the big boy version of auto enginuity for gm. 2014 bricks can only be read with a gds2 because the computers are so fast tech 2 can't even see it. Tech 2 is a good tool it's just becoming obsolete and losing its support. Software updates come up for older cars through the dealer all the time now only the mdi could update your Tahoe computer software

Every car brand have his own diagnostic system:
VAS & Vcds/vagcom for Volkswagen, TIS for Toyota, DIS for Bmw, Tech2 for GM, HDS for Honda, etc...

With these interfaces you have the same power/software/tool as the official brand dealer service.

Got a link for the GM Tech 2 cable? I can only find Opel versions of this?
I find it hard to believe it will do everything a Tech II will do(ie: BCM, abs, and transmission), but may gamble on it if it's that cheap.
Thanks,
Rick

Exactly. Same here. When I searched I could only find Opel versions. Id like to be to read/write like the thread spoke of earlier with the tech 2 software.
