I dont know what else to call them, but I am building a tilting plate for a project and need something like the picture. The bottom bushing is threaded and the top bushing is captured on the threaded rod.

Any idea where I can get these? I do not have access to a lathe. Maybe one day. 283cdc4d2c2260cd52ad93f297ba3fae.jpg

Its not really the threaded one I'm worried about. I can find something for that. Im more concerned about the other one.

I would make that part on a mill.

By using the edge finder against the hard jaw of the vise, and having measured the diameter, moving half that distance from the hard jaw, I would be able to put my spot drill right at the highest point of the OD.

I think you could do a reasonable job on a drill press if you have a setup where the vise can be fixed to the table without wander. If you don't have a spot-drill you can just pre-file a little flat with the edge of a large mill file so your pilot bit doesn't start wandering off the OD. Or center-punch, etc.

The ends of the rod could be saw-cut as they are just for looks.

Those are called trunnions, easily made out of a large bolt or chunk of 3/4" dia. rod. I've made tons of them for different projects. here is one I made for a brake line straightener I built a while back.

Realized after a little more thought that the parts you are looking for are common to an automobile scissor jack. Stop by the salvage yard and all the parts are there!

I am kicking myself for not thinking of that already.
