Is there anyone that can recommend me a tool bag?

I am not looking for the back pack type, but the normal carriage type. No briefcase, soft outers please...

Needs to hold:
- screw driver set
- pliers
- hammer
- ratchet + sockets (3/8 or 1/2)
- small items as tie wraps, duck tape etc.

What do you use? Do you have pictures?

Try Grainger or McMaster Carr and see what they have then go else where to buy. Unless you have an account you cannot get a discount and they are 30% or more over priced.

It is hare to say which one without knowing what you are doing and the tools you are going toput into it.

Do you need specific brands of tools? Don't know that yet, I am going to purchase extra/new tools for this bag. Mix of Gedore / PB Swiss / Knipex I guess...

Grainger or McMaster is a little far for me, i'm over in the Netherlands :)

@willhollin: The Fatmax looks like an allrounder, but I am looking for a closed bag really.. Another thing on the spec list :)

I see my demands are more specific... I am not looking for a gatemouth type of bag. More like a bag with two compartments with zippers or anything like that..

Maybe i'll have to dig deeper and search some more...

They sell B&W cases, which can be custom made for your tool set. They also can get universal tool holders that can be adjusted for different diameters of tools.

Thanks

I'll second the veto pro pacs. I got one on the rec. of someone here, and I like it! Holds lots of stuff and keeps 'em well organized so everything is viewable/grab-able at a glance. My only gripe was that I underestimated how much it would hold and how well it would keep things organized, so I sized up. Wish I hadn't.

My fave bag (I own four) is the BucketBoss bag, which I use to haul machine tools to the machine shop and back. It's a nice mix of pockets for tools, and open space to hold whatever (large tools, projects) in the center. Zip it, and nothing can fall out.

The 13" Craftsman bags are on sale at Sears for $5.99 right now. Works fine so far for bringing stuff from the shop to home when I need it.

I use the Veto LC bag for work. It can get a little heavy when filled up but a great bag. I use a smaller Klein bag when I need only a few tools.

I like the quality of those Veto bags, never held one in person but their website and pics here sure make them look good. Just don't know if onw zipper allowing anything to be grabbed, fall out or a bunch of dirt to get them all at once. Weird? Maybe, but I take good care of all my tools. Last, I can't afford that bag now :-(

Thanks, JASTECH

Keep looking over ebay and you'll find a killer deal. That's how I came across my XLT, I got it for 75 shipped to my door. Look up retail on the XLT and you'll see just how good I made out.

I have a couple of those canvas tool bags also. They are both over 30 years old and have held up very well. I use them to carry tools when going to the auto salvage yard or put together a kit for a specific job. I can put in a couple of die grinders, wrenches, TIG torch parts, gloves, grinding wheels, etc. and still have room for more.

Thanks for some of the links here, especially the military surplus. I like this bag though I recently picked up this one and am liking it quite a bit as well. Can't speak to the longevity of the yellow one, but it is thicker than the black and the black has lasted me ~10 years.

Not that bag in particular, but had a buddy pick up a bunch of the Toughbuilt stuff when Sears had it on heavy discount late last year and it seemed well enough made at the time. The weakest components though, are the plastic clips. Within just a couple months all of his clips were broke and he was left with very nice bags and no way to attach them back to the tool belt they came with.

+1: I have a couple of these for emergency tool kits in my work trucks. They're great if you need a zippered soft bag with a few side pockets and a bunch of short inside pockets. But if you're looking for something with a pocket for every tool, this is probably not for you.

Have you considered tool rolls? Here's one I like:

Yep that is the way I use them too. Especially with home repair, put all the tools I need then have at it. They hold up great and they get better with age.

I have several Bucket Boss bags as well as a couple of their tool rolls and have been happy with them. You can find them on Amazon, they have quite a few different styles.
