Looking for tool carts with a worktop?

I'm searching for a tool cart, specifically with a work top. Seems like all I can find within the U.S. are tool carts where the lid folds up, or its just a rolling shelf style cart.

I'm looking for something with a couple drawers, and either a stainless, aluminum, or plastic work top. Kind of like a stahlwille 90 tool trolley, or a facom jet.

Load rating is important to me as well, which is why I was looking at the extreme tools, but as far as I can see none of the extreme tools come with a worktop. This is also why I've been avoiding the kobalts, husky, and similar brands, as the load rating isn't to my liking.

It would cost way too much in shipping to ship one of the Facom, or Stahlwille tool carts/roller cabinets.
Is there a brand within the U.S. that I am missing?
Sorry, but tool truck brands are out of the question on this one due to pricing.
And HF carts are a no thank you.

If you have any suggestions, it will be much appreciated

Couldn't you just get a 26-33" bottom cabinet and put a butcher block top and four swivel casters on it?

My friend had the HF 5 drawer with a small stainless top of the lid bolted down. What exactly is your adversion to the HF carts when they have already well proven how durable and well built they are

Seems like you have to make your own top. :dunno:

Most roller cabinets don't come with one though Craftsman often times gave you a crappy piece of hardboard

Maybe source your own piece of polyethylene or poly max for plastic top

Global website shows both Sunex and Extreme carts along with some other less expensive options with the sliding top

I made mine from two Harbor Freight 5 drawers. Nothing fancy but it's solid.

If you're not on a tight budget, the Lista with a butcher block top is a tank. All of the drawers are rated at 440 pounds, not as pretty as a Snap On but very functional and heavy duty. I have one that is approx 41x22, rolls like a dream.

i am not an advocate of horrible fright.
however, i just picked up a 30'' rolling tool cart, ridiculous cheep, $99
musta been a close out, (dont see it on their site) 4 drawer ball bearing slide, lockable. added a collapsible shelf for 20.
changed the casters to a more heavy duty, life seems good.

I just picked this up at a used tool shop. Three drawer cabinet with the top tray installed upside down for a work surface. I stopped at Home Depot tonight and grabbed one of their 26" hardwood tops for it. The HD top needs about an inch lopped off one side but should make a decent work surface. cd44ef462e2eeb072c4a52b71c7fe8a0.jpg

Well thanks for the ideas guys. Kennedy, or proto with my own work top might be an interesting way to go.

Homak is on sale at Napa right now. I bet as we get closer to Black Friday there will be sales on many products that might work.

I have been researching tool boxes for quite awhile and everything that has been written on this forum and others is that the quality is very good for what you pay. I believe for the space I have and what my needs are, I am going to get around a 36" bottom as my rolling cart and a bigger unit 52" top and bottom for my storage.

I don't think they are commercial pro units but it does not sound like you need that level of build.

No idea why so many people go for carts, a 36" roll cabinet with good casters and worktop of ply covered with rubber mat is far more usable tool ...

Lower roll cabinet with a top added.
Bend up a conduit handle if you need to.
Kennedys work well.
26-30" boxes will hold a lot and can be modded to carry a stepladder on the end as well.
You can add a small vise if you want.
