Looking for USA made applicators? (caulk guns)

I attempt to buy a good USA made product whenever that option is available. I wondered why I couldn't find any caulk guns made here in the states..

It was in this search where I ran across Cox who advertises that their tools are made in Michigan and England.

I purchased this model and was very pleased with how easy it is to use compared with the cheap ones, due to its Mechanical Advantage of 18:1.

I applied a few tubes of silicone on my windows after taking this picture and it worked great. Time will tell how long it holds up but it feels very substantial and I have a feeling it will provide many years of service.

Notice the silver colored rivet on the handle. On the other side of the handle is a poker. THE OLDER MODEL IS MISSING THIS FEATURE, so be sure to get the latest one if that feature is important to you.

I have every intention of purchasing more of their products and thought I would share my positive experience with them for those looking for a good quality caulk gun made in USA. Note that they also have many other applicators for specific purposes.

For what it's worth, their customer service in my experience was prompt and excellent which was the driving factor in my decision to post some info about them for those who might be interested.

It is good to know there are still some caulk guns being made in the USA! Somebody posted a discussion about these a while back and commented on how the poker that opens a tube of caulk was missing. In my opinion a good caulk gun needs to have a poker, a cutter to cut the caulk tubes plastic tip open to the desired size and angle, and a reliable mechanism. The mechanism needs to be able to squirt the amount of caulk needed and be able to stop the flow of caulk quickly. I would not limit it to just these things either.

Do you know where Dripless and Newborn are made? I bought a caulk gun from Home Depot about 25 years ago and it still works good. It looks like a Dripless SH200 but it is slightly different. Whoops! I think mine might be a Newborn Model 111 and they look like they are made offshore now. Maybe I'll go and take a picture of mine. I really like the button that stops the flow of caulk and the tip cutter.

Yep. There are quite a few sellers on amazon selling this model and others. I'd send them an email first however to make sure its the updated model with the poker.

It's one of those things, once you use one over the standard cheapo blue ones you will be amazed. Whenever I go somewhere that caulk may be involved, it comes with. Can't stand the cheapo blues anymore.

I have that same exact one. Was wondering though, what about Dripless? This is a fairly recent thread. Perhaps someone can shed some light on the Dripless brand. There is no info on COO, which is odd.

Found out the COO of Dripless products is Taiwan. Prices are almost parallel to Cox.

The tag which came affixed on mine stated Made in Taiwan, not PRC.
Apparently, Dripless gurantee's their product without complete disclosure of terms and conditions. I never owned 29oz before, my Newborn has lasted over two decades and continues to hold up.

Looking forward to a long lasting relationship with the Dripless.

The Dripless feature is not the release of the locking mechanism. The Dripless feature (patented by Dripless) is observable when the trigger is released and the release of caulk/sealant suddenly stops (not to be confused with locking mechanism). Not sure if Cox employs a similar design though.

The one I have is the ETS2000. Definitely not the biggest one they make but still fairly decent and not really cheap.

The one I have is the ETS2000. Definitely not the biggest one they make but still fairly decent and not really cheap.

I have a few of these and they are great for caulk, silicone, etc. cold poly, not a chance.

Caulking guns tend to walk away on me too often to spend any more than that on, unless it's for home only use, and home only stuff always makes it to the job site anyway.....
