Hi all.

I’m looking to build a shed. Need to take out a permit because I want a little bigger than What’s allowed without a permit. This means I require drawings.

Does anyone know where I could find some drawings to build a shed? Recommend a book?

Thanks so much for input.

What specific size are we talking here. In some parts of the world a shed could be 60x125.

What would you do if no drawings/no permits were required?

Most lumber yards, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. sell plan books for sheds. You can also just google 'free shed plan' and any number of them will appear. If the drawings need to be signed by an engineer or architect, that's another matter.

Hi guys. Looking at 12x16. I think I’ll just get a book from Lowe’s?

Yeah that should work, but your province may have specific building requirements that may not match what the plans in the book say.

But I think if you are nice to the local building inspector, they will look at the plans and follow your work as it goes along so it will pass inspection. I mean, it's just a shed after all. I'd get the book with drawings/plans and see the inspector and let them approve it.

Hi guys.

I have to take drawings before I get a permit. That’s why I think I’ll get a book and just use those.

This is what I used.

There were a few errors in the materials list, but overall easy to follow for someone like me that has no construction experience.

The video of "Building a Shed in 3 Minutes" was entertaining to watch.

Before doing any purchasing, be sure that as others have suggested, you get info from your local AHJ about what you're allowed to build, where it can go, the size and height, and any aesthetic design requirements.
