Pretty much the gold standard of DVOM:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

But it does come at a price......

As many will point out there other meters of very good to excellent quality at less than half the price.

I use my 233/A the most when doing automotive style work. I tend to use my 187 for ats and generator trouble shooting.

I've used the Fluke 88 for 20 years and my only complaint is the inductive pickup on the RPM function is not always accurate. The 40-year-old Craftsman which clips directly on the coil is always dead on. However, newer engines don't always have a single coil, so there you have it.

87 is the general gold standard for a digital meter, the 88 is an automotive specific variant, beyond that you are pretty much looking at a hand scope.

Please do a search, these have been discussed to death on here.

I've got two 88V's and a 23. The 88's are automotive specific and that old 23 is/was basically an introductory meter. If you are in the automotive field an 88 will serve you well, lost of options for them.

I have an equus 3340 it was like $80 and it works awesome, does what ever ever asked it to do... I use my power probe for most electronic testing needs, it has replaced my multi meter and my test light, and my starter button, in one box...
