Just stay away from the small electric ones (non gas) from Karcher (or any brand for that matter); I have heard customer complaints on those. Engine wise, if you can afford something with a Honda engine; that would be the way to go and much quieter too!

If you just need a new bolt-on pump, you might take a look at the replacements from Northern Tool. They have Comet to Cat, from non-ceramic to ceramic plungers.

I have a Honda-engined Karcher that I paid $299 for and Sams has the updated model. I have had it for three years with no problems. If you search the internet Karcher has some negatives, but the pump on a $300 model is obviously cheaper than an $800 model. Depends on if you use it once a week or all day, every day.

Good luck

I recently bought a Honda gas powered one from Home Depot. It's 2700 or 2900 psi and works great. I paid $320 for it, I believe (or close). It's quiet, provides more than enough power, and the handle/nozzle has multiple settings for different water streams.

A very good buy......

My wife told me that we need to buy a pressure washer the other day. Sure it means more work for me around the house but on the plus side of things I get to buy a new tool.

I've been looking at the same Karcher unit the OP posted. Costco has the best pricing that I've seen so far.

I second the Karcher small electric ones, I've had three of those POS's. Could (shoulda) bought a gas one with the money I've spent.

I am going to see what HD has tomorrow.

I am leaning towards the Karcher @ Costco but I will have to order it as they don't have any in the store. (2 week delivery time).

Thanks for all the reply's

The engine is manufactured by the company that makes BMW motorcycle engines and was designed by Dewalt, it is also exclusive to Dewalt (you wont find this motor used by any other brand). Its performance is comparable to a Honda GX that can still be found on the 3800PSI model.

I have never heard anyone speak well of the small electric jobs. With that said I bought an 1800 PSI Karcher a few years back when I had to have a pressure washer to prep the the house for paint and flat out could not afford a gas rig. I have used the **** out of mine and have never had a problem, it has worked great for me, though I must admit it only gets used a half dozen or so times a year. Anyway I will keep my fingers crossed and hope my luck holds out a few more years (knock on wood) :)

I did some research when I got mine about 4 years ago and it seemed the advice at the time was to get one with a high quality pump. I ended up with a Devilbiss Honda powered CAT pump model. Its worked without flaw and it gets used monthly from sidewalk washing to doing decks/pool surrounds for some friends.

If I were to do it again, I would check out local craigslist first as year old ones that were seldom used $500 retail models seem to go for $200 to 250 all day long here in Dallas.
