I picked up a Desmond Stephan 61P the other day and the guy i got it from "threw in" another vise that was missing the lug for the main screw. It doesn't look like much of a vise, but I thought I could make it usable for a friend. I need help identifying what it is. Thank you for looking.

Yep. Chinese lower quality vise.
Sounds like it would be an easy fix to use for a welding bench or an outdoor work table. Being free to you, there is no downside. Of course you could repair it and try to sell it for enough to pay for the Desmond Stephan.

That #5 vise has been sold for more than twenty years under a dozen different stick-on decals.

Perfectly good homeowner vise, also made as a #3, #4 and #6.

Thank you everyone for the information. I appreciate it. I found a replacement nut for a Jet #5 for less than $10. I will give that a try.
