I like buying sets with good warranties or at least from vendors who sell singles. I don't break sockets very often but would consider it an excuse to upgrade. I'm still waiting to break a VIM Torx so I can justify Snap-On heavy duty removal or whatever the gold ones are called.

Ugly makes money too.

My sockets are a mix of more brands (and some unbranded) than I could name off the top of my head. As are my wrenches, my screwdrivers, my twist drills, etc.

This one ******* ***** I used to sometimes work with was helping change a cylinder on an R2800. Borrowed my 1/4 drive 1/2 or 9/16 wobble socket to get the exhaust stacks off.
Wouldn't fit, so he took a grinder to it without bothering to mention it. He was made aware of my displeasure when I bounced it off the hangar wall fairly close to his head from about 50ft feet away.

Didn't offer to replace it, so I just bought a single (Craftsman). He never asked to borrow another tool.
