Losing watched threads

I use the watch thread without sending emails feature. The feature works fine under most conditions, but I was missing updates on many watched threads and couldn't figure out what was going on.

After some analysis, I think that the issue is related to new posts and when you read the thread. For example, someone updates a watched thread and my watch list is updated as expected. I read the thread and on the next post my wtch list is updated and everything is working as desired.

Now someone updates a watched thread, but I don’t read the thread until the next day. If the thread isn't too active and there are no new posts before I read the thread, the next post after I read the thread will update my watch list as expected.

However, if the thread is active and there are multiple posts before I read the thread, my watch list is no longer updated when new posts are made.

I hope this makes sense as I like the feature, but I have to unwatch and hit watch again for active threads every morning.

Thanks

I have the same issue. In my instance I have determined the issue to be that if I do not go to the last posted page, then it will not send a notification. The same issue happens if I have 2 or more notifications and only look at one. Whatever I didn't view during that session won't send notifications. My work around has been to click on Forums from the toolbar and select Watched Threads. Any that I didn't get notified will be in a bold font. Once I get caught up again, the notifications continue to flow.

@smschriefer , While I experienced similar issues as well, we are really just speculating seeing as how we don't have access to the code or a debugger.

I also find that watching a forum seems more reliable / less likely to miss notifications than just watching a thread.
