Loud lineset

The lineset for my 3rd floor a/c runs inside an exterior wall in my bedroom and is quite loud when running. R22, 1.5 ton, cooling fine. It runs up two stories then horizontally probably 12 feet.

Is it normal to hear refrigerant being pumped though the lineset?

Several years back I had a new house under construction where vibrations from the lineset made strange noises in the house - loud humming noise. We had to cut drywall in several locations to add straps on a trial and error basis till we stopped it. Was very odd.

This one sounds like water running through the pipes with lots of turbulence
I don't mind opening the wall up if I can have some confidence it's fixable

I had to deal with one that had to have extra insulation in places and complete isolation from the building to shut it up. Another that had a slight kink that was hidden, and quite noisy. Another that had a blob of dirt/braze in the line. And another that just needed a bit more gas. And I did get a singing filter drier one time, but you'd know that one in a heartbeat, it was like having a ghost living in the machine room.

If there's a kink in the liquid line pressure would be higher than normal. In the suction line lower than normal. Is this a new problem that just started or a new system?

Well, it's r22, so not a new system. It's original to the house, 2003. We've been here 2 years and it's been doing it that whole time.

Cools fine, although the system is considerably oversized for the space. The lineset runs in an essentially unaccessible location, so any kinks would have been there since installation. I can't remember if anyone has checked pressures on that system.
