new here and my tool ocd has kicked in.

most of my stuff is craftsman, but i've been picking up the other name brands, especially if the price is right.

over the last two weeks, i've picked up the following in the pics, (cell phone pics ****, sorry):

test1.jpg

speed wrenches from left to right are: 1/2" snap-on, 1/2" craftsman, 3/8" wright
the sockets, top are 1/4" snap on, (got all those for 2 bucks), below those are some 1/2" craftsman metric, 18, 19, 21, 22mm. ratchets: 1/4" craftsman and 1/4" craftsman mini breaker. 3/8" 1962 snap-on. (got that for 5 because the bearing was gunked with grease and did not work at the time of purchase.) three snap on weather head sockets. all the crows feet cost me 12 bucks. the 3 individual are SO. the others are sk and kd. then some air nozzles. those were too cheap to not get.

i mentioned in my intro post that i bought a straight carbureted truck. having rebuilt the carb, in addition to the spare carb i picked picked up for it, i kind of needed a choke angle gauge, but unfortunately, those seem to be pretty difficult to find. well, just so happened i found one, a brand new OTC with instructions for a price of 5 dollars.

and finally, i particularly favor test equipment, especially if it's cheap. i have more than i need, but, i do use them. i've also found good gauges very instrumental in working on this truck. (what have i gotten into?)

left top: fluke 77 that cost me a 20, practically new. bottom left is a kal equipment model 2831 magnetic timing analyzer. this thing is awesome because i've used it while operating the truck and am able to see where the timing is at, at anytime along with rpm. way more accurate than a timing light with advance, and the best part, 5 bucks. bottom right is a cornwell tools fx-976 dvom, tach, dwell, and amp meter. the gauges are: cornwell compression gauge, mac transmission/oil pressure gauge, and an allen vacuum gauge.

all said, approximate out of pocket cost, 120, having the right tool when you need it, priceless!

i do have a comment to make about the meter, having seen a few threads about meters here, i prefer fluke, simply because fluke are practically bullet proof and can take a beating. i currently have 3 of these 77's. i also have cheap brand meters too. when dealing with auto work, or even around the house, accuracy is not a prerequisite. if i need accuracy, i'll use one of the two o-scopes i have. i guess i could mention that i do have a bench top fluke that will read down to 1 milliohm and bench top fluke that will down to 1 microvolt, but i hardly use those unless i am chasing a ground problem, or setting bias voltages on amplifiers.

anyways, enjoy!
