Hi, I made an shop addition behind my garage. It's 10x24 and plan to heat it a few time during winter. It will be the place for the workbench, toolbox and bigger tools. It will be the place to rebuild engines and so on...

I don't want to leave it on the bare concrete (or even juste paint it). I want a subfllor with something cheap to protect it. It will be also more confortable and easier to heat. (i'm in northern Canada)

My options:
-Painted OSB
-OSB with rubber mat
-OSB or plywood + low cost tiles

any comment or other options that I should consider?

thanks :)

Costco sells a good roll mat for the garage. It is of very good quality and the best thing about Costco is if you don't like it, they take it back no questions asked.

thanks,
It's a 6 hours drive to the nearest Costco but I will see with the Home Centers in town.

Is it possible to glue it to the concrete or to the OSB?

OSB and H20 = Swelling, chipping, softening.

If you use wood on the floor you will never be able to wash it down on a regular basis unless you completely seal it.

The Costco mat is nice. Sort of an industrial rubber/vinyl mat. You could put this on your wood floor, caulk the edges and it would work out good. If you have anything really heavy to roll around you may get some additional wear.

For a heavier duty floor you could lay VCT on the OSB and seal/wax it. If you lay them while it's warm out they will last forever. Check for other posts on this site.

What about horse mats? MY local feed store sells these mats that are about31/2 thick rubber. They are about 3 feet by 5 feet. You can buy a few at a time if money is an issue. I dont know how much they are but a guy that details cars has them in his garage.
