low headroom track for normal height garages?

Long story short, I have a 9' interior height garage. I'd like to gain as much headroom as possible when the door is open (higher than the garage door aperture, obviously.)

Has anyone ever installed low headroom track in a normal height garage? Any gotchas or types of track that work better than others?

Assuming we're talking about a high lift conversion, there really isn't anything unusual to doing so with a 9' ceiling height.

I have a low headroom door installed between two interior parts of my build with 9 foot ceiling. I don't remember the brand as I bought it on discount from a a local supply house that had it in stock. As you can see the opened height of the door is about the same as the wall opening.

I have never seen a torsion spring assembly mounted that way before.

That's a low headroom arrangement. I'm guessing the OP is looking for a high lift arrangement, but incorrectly called out low headroom. We'll have to wait and see what the OP says.

The double-track setup like @kj_mustang posted is what gets the door super close to the ceiling.

I have the track extensions for high lift. That's where the ceiling is higher than the door height and you don't want to lose your headroom when the door is open. (My door is 14' and ceiling is nearly 20'.)

I think "high lift" is what I'm looking for (thanks), but only about 1 foot higher than normal. That would put the horizontal tracks just about a few inches below the ceiling.

I have seen multiple "low headroom" kits with the torsion springs above the garage door, so I don't think "low headroom" means that the torsion spring is located in the middle of the garage.

The picture that was shown is what's known as low headroom torsion to the rear. Low headroom can be done several ways, they all have their advantages and disadvantages.

If you are just looking to move the door up a little bit, there are different radius horizontal tracks that you can switch to as well. Also I didn't see it, but what is the height of your door?

The double horizontal track shown is "low headroom".

kj_mustang, I am in the middle of a shed/garage build with same size garage door. Is that the only option? I was under the impression that I would have room for the torsion spring to be above the door. Could a opener be used on that setup?

If you have enough headroom space you can use the front mount torsion spring. Space and clearance for garage door openers depends on type used shaft mount or center mount belt/chain drive. Only way to tell is measure a bunch and look at requirements for the openers.
