why not just get a good quality (metal) bike pump? you'd be surprised what a good bike pump can do. i actually use it to, among other things, top off the tires on my car (and boy do i get some odd looks doing that)! mine has a built-in pressure gauge and it's pretty accurate, i've checked it against readings from both a newer digital craftsman gauge and an old analog type from a fairly reputable vendor (the name of which eludes me right now, that particular tool box is in storage atm). i think i paid maybe $50 for it from a bike shop.
