My Torin "Big Red"'s lift plate is 3.5" off the ground. I've had it for 3 years and absolutely no issues.

My Carquest "Professional" is the lowest I could find, at under 3". It's steel, so it's heavy, but solid and well-built. It was just over $200 IIRC.

You can see it here (right page, the $169 "2-ton extra low lift service jack")

Made in Chi-town, though...but no regrets.

My Big Red has served me very well. From using it in mud to help my brother in law get his trailer out of the ditch to every day use in the garage.

I also have an ASE model 200T. 2 3/4 inches at lowest point. Works great.

I bought the same one. It is a very high quality jack, not cheap, I think I paid about $225. Most likely the last jack I will ever purchase. The higher price of quality only stings once. I have had numerous Craftsman jacks and the jerkiness of lowering drove me crazy let alone the danger when suddenly the car lurches down. THis one lowers so smoothly. Check out the link and the pics of two cylinders for the pumping mechanism, nice to think of the added safety and reliability.
From their site:

Model 200T - 2 Ton Speed Jack
"Low Rider" Low Profile Floor Jack

AFF's new Model 200T floor jack is built with our traditional quality, perfect for today's lower profile, "tuner" vehicles. It lifts quickly using AFF’s double-pumper technology from a lower 2-3/4” start up to 20". This low profile jack has quickly become one of our most popular floor jacks.

I have this 4000lb aluminum "racing" jack from Craftsman. it is pretty light and easy enough to carry around to the track or wherever you need to take it. I've had mine for years with no problems. For the price, I think it is a good overall package, lightweight, stylish, reliable, and low clearance. I just used mine yesterday to jack up a customer's Ford GT. you can pay alot more more for lighter and more exotic looking jacks, but this one does the job for me.

fwiw, I have not experienced any of the above mentioned "jerkey" or sudden lowering with this jack. I know what the above poster is talking about as I have seen it with some other jacks. my craftsman is very easy to control and you can lower the car VERY slowly is so desired.

I think it cost me $180 on sale, it looks like list price now is just over 200.

It looks like they now offer a smaller but very simlilar 1.5 ton version with LED illuminated jack pad! :shocking: woot! for only 150bucks.

hope this helps.

I'll say that I've had my Harbor Frieght aluminum racing jack for about 5 years with no problems. I probably use it at least one weekend a month.

I have used AC hydraulic for years now and it is a great product - that said I can buy 3 Sears jacks for the same price, but none have the reach or quality...

Just discovered that these are not currently available at the ASE Deals. I have wanted an alum jack that is rebuildable - but those are $$$$

I picked up a Matco 2 ton Low Pro service jack a few years back to get under my lowered track cars. It's got a lowest height of 2.5 inches! It has twin pitsons and is built like a tank....it weighs over 120lbs!! I have been very happy with it. It looks a lot like the one JSK referenced above. It probably cost more since it's got Matco on it. :headscrat

I bought two of these Craftsman low profile jacks and after putting Bars leak jack oil in them they work fine now. These two jacks started to leak about 1 year after i bought them and Sears would not fix or replace them. Thank god for Bars leak they work like a champ now. I would pass on the Craftsman jacks.

I had the craftsman, it crapped out after 3 years. I just picked up the HF 2 ton for $159. It was on sale this weekend.

I bought an AC Hydraulic DK20 a few years ago when they're weren't insanely expensive. I think I paid just over $200 for it back then. I also ordered the rubber pad to replace the standard metal cup.

Although I don't use the jack much, let me tell you, it's a lot less nerve wracking to use than my old jack. It lifts smoothly, starts very low, and is very easy to lower. In addition, the safety features of the jack really sold me at the time.

I see that they're very difficult to buy in the US now, which is a shame. I know this is a jack I will hold for a very long time and service when necessary. I would encourage anyone looking for a jack to look at it as an investment in your safety. When I looked at it that way, it was much easier to justify the expense.

I still haven't found anything to touch the DK13HLQ in terms of quality, low weight (85 lbs) and long reach.

The BendPak and (possibly) future Esco copies will all be coming out of China...unfortunately, its all about price these days and the Chinese jacks will be in the mid-$200's. With the weak dollar (vs Euro) and higher factory margins, the AC jacks are 2-3 times this price.

hmmm, bars leak jack oil - I'll need to do that - have the same (maybe slightly different color) Craftsman jack that also drips a little oil.

What wheels are those on the DK13HLQ? My DK20 has the standard black wheels.

I sold them with stock wheels but had a limited number of 6061 wheels with a Shore 95 bonded polyurethane tread for rough duty use. I have these on both my DK20Q and DK13 HLQ jacks...I plan on keeping these jacks for quite awhile as everything nowadays seems to be coming out of China.

Long gone....the manufacturer in NC wanted orders of 1000pc of each size....cost was way to high. Maybe they would reconsider now that the economy has cooled but I don;'t think there's enough demand for run of these since the jack is not available here in the US. SD

Darn. Oh well, I kinda figured that. Seems to be a big following of AC fans on the boards, but probably not enough to get an order placed.

My little jack is about 3/4" at its lowest point - but unfortunately, it's only rated at about 10 pounds. :)

The real floor jack is an old Walker 5 ton. Wheels are the highest thing in front and are about 4" in diameter.

I also use the craftsman alum racing jack. On my third one. The first one developed a bad leak after about 1.5 years of frequent use, the second one the alum actually broke when a chassis fell on it. Both were replaced for free by at my local sears.

I love my Arcan jack from Costco. The range is from 2.5" to 21" and only cost $65. It was heavy but now there is an aluminum replacement at $99. If you belong to Costco, it's worth checking out. There jacks are very robust and mine has been trouble free as well.
