So I deal with a lot of hex at my job and I purchased the sunnex low p hex bit set 3/8 drive, that set actually goes up to 3/4 which is great but sometimes I'm limited by the 3/8 drive strength, does anyone know of a similar kit or "ala carte" sockets out there in 1/2 drive?

If you are worried about 5/16 hexagon portion of the drive bits, normal practive seems to be to switch up to 11/16 hex-drive bits. Apex maxes them in either 3/8 drive or 1/2 drive impact holders IIRC

3/8 square drive is good up to 275 foot pounds, so by itself its not an issue. Once you get over 9/16 (14mm) hex bit, your not likely in 3/8 drive territory at all tho.

edit: low-strength/low torque applications, snap on also makes low profile drainplug sockets, in one piece design. these chromed sockets are for diff plugs and oil drains. (edit2: metric only)

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by upping to 11/16, I typically deal with 3/4 hex head on heavy equipment and what I'm saying is it can exceed a 3/8 drive capacity and usually does, so I'm looking for low profile 1/2 inch, those v8 tools set on jb tools is perfect but they're out of stock.

My bad, I thought you were talking actual 'bit' sockets. I should have checked your product spec. Sunex 3646 look like normal 3/8 low profile designs but are 1 piece construction.

Are you using these with impact gun? That would probably change up the answer a bit.

Oh ok gotchya but Nah not typically impacting seeing as the low profile usually end up being used in an area that doesn't accommodate an impact.

Yea I did see the blue point as well, I was planning on buying it when the snap on man comes around this week, still could be smaller lol but I also just contacted v8 tools about that set, and did see them on eBay as well, don't know much about v8 tho. Also that's a nice set on amazon

Hey worst comes to worst ill just take the band saw to a few sockets and l keys and make my own, I just really like the 1 piece design, super sturdy.

Take a look at some of the stuff EZ Red tools has.

While trying to look up what I was thinking of this came up, low profile hex set that gives you a 10, 12 or 17mm head to wrench on. Unfortunately this set stops before 3/4

My search skills must be off because I couldn't find what I was looking for on their site, but found them on Tooltopia. I don't know if this would work for you but I use this set the way you are describing. They are very short with the largest one having a 3/4 hex on one side and 13/16th on the other. They are advertised for linking box ends of wrenches together for more leverage. I use them for fill, drain, spool plugs etc in low clearance places. Set it in place then use open end wrench on other side. I have the metric set as well, it's not often but when needed they are worth their weight in gold.

I just went back rereading op and realized you're looking for larger half inch drive sizes. Shows how good my reading skills are lol... I'll leave this info here anyway.

Good day
