Hi all,

Does anyone have any reccomendations for 1/2" drive stubby/low profile hex keys? I need sizes from 10-19mm. I've got the snap on 208EFTAMXSYm set to get me upto 10mm, but after this for so,e reason they only make the 1/2" set in regular length.

Does amyone have any good reccomendations for alternatives?

Thanks
Rich

I have the 3/8 low profile set 207FHRM from Snap On. It has 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17.

It's not exactly what you are looking for, but it has a lot of the most used sizes if you can get by with the 3/8 drive. And the sockets generally fit where others won't, if access is an issue.

Thanks! Had not even spotted those despite scouring the website and catalogue. They will probably do me, i'd just love to know why they wouldnt offer something similar in a 1/2" drive. Some of the M16's with a 14mm hex that i encounter in tight places holding hydraulic valves together can take quite a bit of shifting, just got to hope a 3/8 drive breaker can take it.

Thanks again

I have a bunch of keys I have cut off to gain access in tight spots. The allen part of those drivers can be pulled out and replaced with a shorter piece cut from a regular key. As long as the shortened key can engage the bolt head you can make them as short as you need.

That was also my thought with the 307ESAMY set that i have, buying another and shortening them. But the actual body of them is also pretty lomg, so i would already be off to a disadvantage.

Bondhus make some pretty nice stand alone hex bits that are friction fit with some sort of ball detent. I actually have been debating about buying their stand alone bits for whenever I need more oomph in 1/2 drive and just snap them into my SK impact sockets. Should be economical and practical.

If you need shorter bits then just buy an extra bit and cut it shorter and finish off the edges with a roloc.

The Koken impacts from Uktools were the first ones i looked at, but i already have a few bits of Hazet so i'd prefer to stick with them.

I found both Sealey and Laser make a set. Whilst i like some of the kit laser makes, i've never rated their hand tools, pretty much same story with Sealey.

Thanks for the help./
