I'm about to embark on lower ball joint replacement for a 2013 F150 that has lived its life in MN. It's rusty and crusty. I'm looking for a tool that's up to the task without question. Not some POS that is just going to bend.

Can anyone ID this tool? 4:55 in. Seems to do the job effortlessly.

Thanks.

Rather than buy one, you may want to rent one (typically free - for a deposit you get back on return) from a local auto parts store.

Regardless of whether you rent or buy, lube up the threads of your press really good before each use.

Pickle fork? They are cheap and work well. The only downside to a pickle fork is they will damage the rubber boot. If you do a full replacement it won’t be a problem. If you have a Harbor Fright by you they work well. Less than $10.00

Uhhhh, no. I'm trying to replace, not separate.

I’m old(60), pickle forks are all we had when I was in my 20’s. Used them often on ball joints. There’s a lot of good videos on YouTube on how to replace ball joints with basic tools. The computer and YouTube are my most used tools. If I can’t figure something out someone had the same problem.

Looks like OTC to me also. Manually hammered pickle forks **** for ball joints IME. Yeah, I used them 30+ years ago, but one on an air hammer is 100X quicker and easier. I still have my old school manual ones for some reason and consider them scrap metal.
