Need a 41-44 wide lower tool box that will fit under my workbench that has clearance for a 35.75 max tall object.. Craftsman has a few that are 34" I believe (or is it 34 without casters?) Not sure but the drawer configuration is not ideal for what I want.. Most from Harbor Freight, Home Depot, etc are all too tall with the casters..
Are there any out there that fit the under 35.75 max criteria? Thanks in advance!

2" in height vs 5" in height would knock off about 3".. Just wondering of the bolt pattern spread would work. Hmmmm

You could adapt the smaller pattern casters with a 3/16" steel plate?

The casters also don't have to be directly under the box. I'm thinking like the table-saw rolling frames or a creeper where the surface is below the tops of the casters.

Is it fitting directly under the bench top? Or is there a support member you could notch or replace with something skinnier?

The bench is as high as it can possibly go... I had an idea.. That plastic material HDPE or something like that, take 4 large chungs about 5x5 square and about 2 inches thick... counter sink a few bolts into it and into the base of the tool box. That way I could on occasion, slide it out if need be. Where can I get something like this? Any other material recommendations?
Thanks.

I don't know how you use your tool box, but I wouldn't want to try to slide any of mine around without removing all the drawers. Good luck

Something like this, but they don’t like dirt.

Will you be moving it in and out much? I have a workbench in one corner of my shop and I raised the height a bit so I could fit a tool cart under it. Over the long term I found pulling the cart in and out to be such a pain that I gave up on the while idea.

Service Caster is by far the best place to get casters IMHO. If you exchange the casters be aware that all the materials are not created equal. Some plastics will degrade and fail quicker due to the moisture in the garage environment. I only buy steel wheeled casters now.

I removed all my casters on my Husky boxes as the mobile height was way to high. I dont intend to move the boxes once they were in place. I ended up making 1x1 square tube legs welded to caster plate at the height I wanted. The boxes are easy enough to move around if needed with a pallet jack.

I did something like this with a box that was to be used in a relatively clean lab. I bought a set of low profile casters that were a direct bolt on. The only issue was they had a lower weight rating. Not an issue in my case but soothin something to consider.

Thanks for all the replies... The box will rarely be moved but I want it stout and 'moveable' if needed.. I think the lower casters or the sliding plastic blocks bolted on will be the cleanest and most permanent looking solution..
