The website says the price is the new lower price, not a sale price. The ones on the website look like they have red and blue stripes like Duralast has, do they?

Yes they do have colored strips like duralast and are made in Taiwan. The guy working around the tools explained that they are doing away with their line of normal sockets and going to a pass through style socket hence the drop in price. I asked if I would be able to get my current sockets replaced but he seemed unsure.

8-19mm skips 16 mm
5/16-3/4 no skips.
You cant go wrong the socket sets. They are a good bargain at the price.I bought 3 sets of each. Also got the 1/4 drive shallow sets for 4.97,the 11 pc mm & sae wrench sets for 19.97 a set,The 1/2 drives 16pc ratchet & socket set for 19.97,and the stubby sae & mm stubby wrenches for 9.97 a set.So far I have no complaints with the Kobalt tools.

I very much doubt they are phasing out their standard sockets in favor of pass thru. That would make all their ratchets obsolete.

This site is a bad influence. I bought the deeps and the shallows. The shallows were 7.97 a set. Figure they would be a good for a travel set.

You are right....This site is a bad influence. When I first came here I one set of wrenches 3 ratchets and a partial socket set and a tool bag and a few screwdrivers. Now I'm up to this and its not even half of what I have now.

I wish the mm 1/2 impacts went higher than 25 and it did not look like they went higher in the singles.

So went to lowes to get some replacement impact sockets and a missing size and talked to the people working there. I noticed they had re arranged the socket and wrench displays and was re confirmed that they are moving to the MAXX access and are phasing out socket sets and now have all the maxx pass through sockets and sets.

i really cant believe they would phase out standard style sockets..... how lame brained could a company be?

and what about the "sockets fo life" dealio?? :lol_hitti

Kobalt was one of the things that were worth a damn there, especially at 9:45pm...
