Its sad when shallow thinkers think only Quality tools come off a truck, Even they have sold out over the years not all of there tools are U.S.A. made. but you cant convince them. Thanks For sale flyer post......

It is even more sad when someone thinks that just because something was made in the US it is automatically the best without actually looking at the product and comparing. I am all about buying American but the Kobalt tools made by Danaher are really not that well made. I call a spade a spade when I see it. They are serviceable tools that have a good warranty but they would not be my first or second choice.

Thanks for the heads-up Johnnie. Just what I needed, although my wife had other thoughts...

SCORE! ! ! I had to stop by a local Lowes to see what great deals they had on sale and then to see what else they had that I didn't know I needed. On final approach to the check-out, I noticed at the end of the tool wall where they had small parts storage bins and boxes. The bottom shelf had Plano plastic storage boxes. So, I did the stupid thing to see what the going rate is, knowing I can use a coupon at HF... I was shocked to see the 'Clearance' label on these. These are Plano 3750 Pro-Latch StowAway boxes adjustable from 3-28 compartments - 14"x9"x2".

Original Lowes price was $4.76 and the Clearance Price was $1.28. Each! :bounce:

There wasn't much of a second thought before I had to find a cart to make my get a way. At that price, I had to buy all that they had to offer - 9 in total. Amazon has this listed today at $7.99.

Thanks again Johnnie for the lead on the 50% off sale at Lowes. Although I don't want to but too many additional duplicate tools now until I get my garage renovated, I was able to score big in my efforts to organize parts and hardware. Maybe I should hit other stores to see if they have the same sale...

I went by there earlier today. One of the things I wanted was the slip joint plier sets. I didn't see it with the other display items. One girl told me they were in the tool dept. The guy there said they were'nt in that dept. After walking BACK to the display I asked somone else. Of course they said it may be in the tool dept.! The guy walked back over there with me and of course we didn't find it. We then walked around the store looking for it after the computer definitely said they had it. He said he would check some other area while I waited but he eventually ended up helping someone else for a while. I got tired of waiting so I eventually put back what I had and left. It's not good to advertise something if you don't have it where it can be found:(

I think you were expecting slip joint pliers like "regular" pliers but they were water pump pliers (like channel locks)

Well I have an array of tools in my tool chest. I buy any tool that is a good price regardless of the name...
Last Christmas my wife thought she would suprise me with a craftsman tool chest.. Well sorry to say I returned it to sears, the drawer slides were cheepo.
Went out and bought the kobalt large chest, the one below the one with the radio and fridge. I paid $999. with a 10% coupon.. I couldn't be more pleased with the tool box.
As I said I have every brand of tool, the fact of the matter is that a 10mm socket will do the trick regardless of where it came from or what name it is.

More power to the person that can afford Snap-on, Mac, etc, etc. I can do the same job with a Kobalt, Sears, Harbor Freight.
When I get done with the job, I wipe the tool off and put it back in the tool chest----never to be seen again till the next time

OBTW, the best time to get Lowes tools on sale is when they are going to conduct an inventory.:bounce:

Well put, as a teacher I can not afford most truck brand tools. Mine get the job done just fine.

Also, when do they do their inventory checks? :)

ask the clerk for when they do that.

last year they had a special, buy one of the larger tool boxes and get a stainless 3 drawer box free.... the free one was valued for 150.00. Then what the people would do is ater they got it home, they would bring the free one back for a credit.....BINGO 150 big ones in the pocket or off your credit card.... I asked the clerk about that and she said that was a customer service deal.... even though there was no reciept...No thats a deal..

I'm don't make my living as a mechanic so realistically as a weekend wrencher, I prefer the more affordable tools like the Kobalts, Huskeys, HF's, etc... It gets the job done without spending a fortune. Don't get me wrong, I'd would love to own Snap-On or Mac, but my wallet says otherwise...

Nice job... that's a great way to ensure you don't end up with helpless-*** kids. Too many people today don't even know how to use a screwdriver properly. It's sad. Plus there's nothing better than your dad trusting you with your own tools.

ha ha ha thats funny.. I did the same thing, bought a tool chest, tools etc. Now he is telling me what to do!

I love my son, I have sent him to a great college, he has a great job, I have tried to teach him what I know. He has always assumed he knows everything.
I want to chalk that up to having him show me and trying to impress me..
That is all good, I would just like to have him go slower and take it all in.

I think I created a MONSTER. Funny what a tool set does to kids...

You reap what you sew...............stevo:lol_hitti

Thanks. The 15 year old will help me build some cabinets this weekend for the wife's garage. The 17 year old is off to Army BCT camp for the summer in Ft. Knox Kentucky. He's doing it between his junior and senior year of high school and will ultimately go in as an officer. Good boys.
