Probably true, I never checked. Honestly I wasn't even sure if this would be considered a "Hot" deal, maybe luke-warm, but figured it might help at least one or two people out who were looking for something similar.

Don't hold your breath on that. Shipping alone on one from Epsteins will probably be more than this hammer costs. And good luck finding a USA-made 4lb hammer for anywhere close to $10 before shipping.

I'm all for buying American made, but this is a pretty darn good deal that you won't be able to match with a USA-made hammer.

Do you have a link for the 48oz? Or was this an in store deal? My Lowes had the 48 oz for $15.** when I checked today.

My sears has this NICE Nupla hammer for $15.** I bought one :)

My lowes has that 48oz (3lb) for $11.98. Looks like a decent price.

I think I may pursue that 4lb hammer, at that price it is just right.

If you local Lowe's will price match based on another Lowes store, if you use Store #0658 the 48oz one is 7.99. I plan on trying this out sometime today or tomorrow.

My store also has them for $3.99. Web site still showed up as $7.99 as did the clearance price sticker but it rang up a checkout for $3.99. So it pays to still go in and check.

I'm sort of new to price matching. How does one go about asking to price match another store? Do you need to get a manager involved? Do you only need the store number?

All I have done in the past is just print out a web page showing the pricing at another local store and asked them to match it. Just go to the customer service desk with the item and ask them. Most time the cashier will do it right there but sometimes they will call the manager.

Sweet, in that case does anyone have a zip code for a store listing the 48oz online for the 3.99 price?

Thanks, dleonard - I picked up the 4lb'er and the 3lb'er for $8.50 total w/ tax at my local store earlier.

They must be selling pretty fast. The 4lb rack was empty so the tools & hardware guy had to open a new box above the shelf to restock. He told he had just filled it a couple hours earlier.

EDIT: I will also add that my local store is ZIP code 43302 if anyone needs to price match.

Hook at my store was empty but I found one in one of the prybar displays. Online said they had 6, so I got a guy to check and he found some more in the overhead storage.

Now they have 3 and I have one for the truck, one for the garage, and one for someone else.

Made in China, but heck of a deal at $3.99.

If the handle breaks is it covered by the "Hassle-Free Lifetime Guarantee?"

Anybody have an area code in CA thatll work for 3.99?
I called and the guy said price matching can only be done within the state due to cost of living and such.

+1, I could use a CA area code as well. This is a handy hammer that I would not use often, but for the price certainly would add to my box.
